Ford Galaxie 1962 Description
BARN FIND 1962 galaxie 500 xl victoria G Code 406 Tri Power 4 Speed, this one was exciting to find, the car is a 1962 believed to be special ordered, bought new in scottsboro alabama at harbin ford, the car has never left that county and was put away and has not been on the road since 1978, during the gas crunch of the early 70's the owner changed the heads and intake to an open chamber design and 1 single 4 barrels carb, but he put the heads and intake in the trunk with every original bolt intact, we removed the old single carb intake and installed the original tri power set up back on the car, while doing so we looked at the motor to check and make sure that everything was in great shape and to our surprise it was like new, this car is so original it is scary, it has the original paint, perfect original bucket seat interior that only came with the XL trim package, even the original 4 speed shifter don't have any slack in it ! this car was ordered with the rare 4.11 gear rearend, these cars are pretty rare because they were the start of the ford fe racing program, this car has features like 11.4 to 1 compression ration, factory dual point distributor, factory cast iron headers, adjustable rocker arms, huge brakes,3 holley 2 barrels carbs on a factory aluminum intake, and yes a 4.11 gear 9 inch ford reared and even kelsey hayes 15 inch steel wheels, the spare in the car appears to be original and even states on the sidewall premium high performance, the interior is awesome and only has a little discoloration to the carpet where something was spilled on it sometime in its life, the paint is original and would defenitly shine we haven't even washed the car,the trunk is excellent and even still has its original cardboard dividers in place,we put a battery in it to spin it over and the interior lights even came on, we decoded the trim tag so everyone can see that its real !BODY=65B 2 door hardtopCOLOR= V chestnut metallicTRIM= 89 chestnutDATE = 03E may 03DSO = 21 atlanta AXLE = 9 4.11 gearTRANS = 5 4 speed manual VIN # 2 is 1962 U = louisville ky plant 67 = galaxie500 XL club victoria G = 406 3x2 special high performance15XXXX = regular production numberThe VIN number is 2U67G15XXXX which states that the car is a Galaxie 500 XL club victoria, while checking the galaxy registry i found only 3 other 406 g code galaxies in the registry, this is the only known chestnut/chestnut G code 500 XL at the time of this add, and probably the only survivor unrestored one out there, that don't need restoration !!! this car is for sale locally and subject to be removed if sold, sold as is with no warranty, please feel free to call 251-751-7530 i will gladly answer any questions "NOTHING tO HIDE HERE" !! if you want to see any more pictures please feel free to go to our website at charliesclassiccars.com thanks and god bless
