The engine runsgreat and the transmission shifts well, it will do all 140mph!!! It is very tight, and very strong. There are no abnormal shakes, rattles, pulling or anything of that nature. It drives very smoothly and tightly, and the ride......it feels like you are cruising in a living room sofa.
This unit is in good overall condition for a police car restoration project, and has been well-maintained.Ithas little of the normal wear and tear you would expect to find on a used police vehicle of this age. This vehicle, as most used police vehicles do, will have imperfections...this typically includes; scratches, chips, nicks, dings, that being said, this car has no known mechanical defects, drives very nicely and the body is straight as an arrow.
These are the Crown Victorias afficianados lust after, and this is an unmolested example in a very desirable color combination.
It is very responsive, smooth-shifting and, of course, very fast and it actually gets phenomenal fuel mileage for such a large car with such aV8 motor... this is due to it is fuel injection system I averaged approximately 20-24 miles per gallon on the highway. In drive, this car sails at 80-85 mph effortlessly due to the high rear axle ratio.

INTERESTING FACTS:
The 1991 Ford Crown Victoria was the last of the big boxy chrome bumpered cars. It was alsoa short limited production year with the introduction of the first Aero Body Crown Victoria (1992) hitting the streets in March 1991, as an early 1992 model. The 1991 Ford Crown Victoria became a dinosuarinstantly only 3 months into 1991. It is now the most desired of the 1988-1991 body styles. they are easily recognized by amber bulbs behind clear front turn signal lenses (rather than clear bulbs behind amber lenses).
5.0L/302 cu Fuel InjectedV8 was the standard engine forboth civilian(with single exhuast) and Police models (with dual exhaust).
The 5.8L/351cu HO(High Output) carburated with the infamous Variable Venturi 2 barrel carb was optional to police only at extra price. 1991 was also the last year the 5.8LHOwas available for Police models.
"P72 "was theVIN code for "Ford Fleet" models and was used on both Police and Taxi modelsdue to they shared most of thier heavy duty components. Only the police model came with dual exhaust and a 140mph certified calibration speedometer. Standard models and taxi's speedometer's went up to 85mph and had single exhaust.
The "P71" Police Interceptorvin code started after 1992, Then P72 was used for Taxi, P73 Base model, P74 LX model
The Fuel injected 5.0L Police cars outmaneuvered and outperformed the overrated Carburated 5.8L V8 cars on many aspects. They were lighter, smoother and more fuel efficient with faster get up and go. Many agencies preferred them with the 5.0L after comparing them. They also enjoyed not having to deal with the problem prone Variable Venturi carburetors.
