Ford F-100 1964 Description
For sale is a 1964 Ford f100 short bed that is a great candidate for restoration. I bought it a couple of months ago with plans to restore but recently was able to purchase a classic truck from a family member I had been trying to buy for several years.Truck is a custom cab with a super straight body. At some point it was converted over from a manual trans with 223 cid to a C4 auto trans and a 302 with freshly rebuilt 2bbl carb. Great tires, ew battery, lugs, ires, uel filter, accum advance, olenoid and points.
Motor starts right up and runs and idles strong. Trans shifts good but sometimes it wants to take off in high gear. At some point motor and trans have hadsmall leaks but they currently are not dripping. Someone at some point put in a GM tilt column and power steering box and pump. Pump leaks quite a bit and previous owner did a poor job of mounting steering box with spacers, eld plate to frame and new holes drilled. Needs to be converted back to original gear box and steering column (which I have) and welding cleaned up and boxed ($300 quote by frame fabricator). Steering column I have to install is a manual so it will need to be converted to floor shift to use.
Electric - passenger headlight and tail light appear to have a short and wipers and guages do not work. Speedo does work.
Rust - has rust in typical spots. Drivers cab mount and corners have rust. Passenger cab mount has mild rust and no rust on cab corner. Core support is rusted, ut i have a rust free one to install. Perimeter of bed is rusted through in several spots thus the diamond plate installed at some point. I removed rubber matting to show pics. Floorboard is super solid.
A/C - Someone installed underdash unit at some point and everything appears to be hooked up correctly. Compressor needs new clutch and will need charged.
I drive it around town but it is not ready to be driven long distances as I believe it will need new king pins and brakes and is very hard to steer due to the issue with the current power steering pump.
Body is super straight with only one spot of bondo (that i could identify) about the size of a silver dollar on the rear quarter.
