Ford Fairlane 1964 Description
Here is a Ford Fairlane which was featured in the October 2016 issue of RPM Magazine. The 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt's were factory racecars from Fordto be competed in the NHRA Super Stock class (Only 127 were made). The car was wrecked while drag racing in 1964 and was re-bodied. The unique and highly rare Thunderbolt factory lightweight parts were then transferred to this body that the car has now. This has the factory lightweight aluminum front bumper, factory lightweight fiberglass fenders, factory lightweight teardrop hood, econoline seats, plexiglass quarter windows, and the door panels with no armrests. While this is not an original Vin tag Ford Thunderbolt it is rich with racing history and with the rarity of the factory Ford lightweight parts.
Under the hood it has a 427 FE Side Oiler high rise engine with the high rise heads and intake mated to a C6automatic transmission.Engine was freshened up in 2008 (have receipts)
In 2002 the car was updated to compete in nostalgia racing by having the engine freshened up, installing a CSR water pump, Moroso 9-quart pan, and a MSD ignition system. The car has a total of 197 miles on it.
