Ford Mustang 1992 Description

I am listing this 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible for my sister. It is a low mileage car that has sat for a good part of it's life. I've owned over 30 fox body Mustangs including a couple of the nicest ones in the country. I will walk you around this one and describe it as I see it. The car has been in my possession for about three months and I have driven it quite a bit so I have first hand knowledge of the car. I wanted to do the cosmetics to it but I just haven't had time.
ExteriorIt is one of only a few hundred in this color however, it needs to be repainted. It has has paintwork on the hood at some point in the past. No rust or signs of accidents. It was involved in a small fender bender within the past year that busted out the passenger side turn signal and ripped a hole in the plastic front bumper cover. This was a low speed parking lot bump with no significant damage but it will need a new bumper cover and a new turn signal light is included. It is a good straight car but everything has had exposure to sunlight and needs attention. The luggage rack is damaged, all of the black trim needs restored and the paint is faded and clearcoat is almost gone on the uppermost surfaces. I've redone these cars before, everything is available and paint jobs on convertibles are not too expensive. There is also a dent in the middle of the hood. The 16 inch original wheels are in good condition. The top is black and has definitely been replaced, it is in good condition with the headliner and glass rear window. I would rate the exterior of this car a 5 out of 10.
InteriorThe white leather is all original. The upholstery is presentable on the passenger front and rear seat but the drivers seat is pretty much trashed. The carpet has some sun fading, and the door panels need a good scrub. The ashtray door is broken and the aftermarket cd player faceplate is missing. The dash is in pretty good condition. Overall however, the interior needs some extensive cosmetic work. I would rate the interior a 5 out of 10
MechanicalClearly the best part of this car is it's mechanical condition. It starts right up and idles and runs great. The transmission and brakes work great. It has all original shocks and struts that should be replaced and the tires have some minor flat spotting. Shortly after my sister bought the car, some mechanic replaced the rear diff for some unknown reason. The speedo reads about 8mph faster than actual speed ever since. I believe the rear diff was replaced with the incorrect gear ratio, perhaps a five speed diff. However, a correct speedo gear would fix that. Everything works on this car, cold AC, hot heat, cruise control, power windows and everything else except the power locks are sticky and finicky. The airbag light blinks sometimes, usually this is a clockspring fault. As most of you know, these cars are fun to work on and very affordable, there is nothing wrong mechanically that can't be fixed over a weekend. It does have some aftermarket exhaust, possibly Flowmaster but it's not too loud. Mechanically I would rate it a 7 out of 10, only because of the speedo discrepancy.
OverallThis car needs about $5000 invested to be a very nice show quality car. The beauty about this car is that it can be enjoyed exactly the way it is and even more so with some new lights, a good cleaning and elbow grease. You could hop in it and drive it anywhere without messing with anything. It comes with the original top boot, boot storage bag and some extra parts my brother in law purchased for it to include the new signal light, a power seat switch, and some airbag parts.
I have a reserve on this car and in my opinion it's well worth the money, time and effort to bring this car back to it's former glory. The car was in no way abused, it has just sat outside for quite some time in it's past. It's the perfect car for a new fox body enthusiast. If you have any questions, you may text me preferably at 941-720-0300, my name is Jason and I would be glad to help out however I can. I will get the new signal light installed before the auction is over. I can pick you up at Tampa airport or I can help arrange for shipping at your expense.
Don't let this one get away.

On May-08-17 at 05:23:05 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have had several people concerned about the mileage and condition. I ran an autocheck, it scores a 48 out of a 31-53 range, 3 owners, always in Florida, the front end accident was reported on 11-17-2014 in TN when the car was on a trip. As far as the cosmetics are concerned, the car apparently spent a lot of time outside, in the sun. If it were garage kept it's entire life, I suspect it would be in much better condition. Message me and I will send pics of the report. The title my sister has reports the actual mileage at 27K in 2012 when she purchased the car.
