This ’40 is an award winning ride that was featured on the cover of Street Rod Builders magazine. It was also the shoe Box Pick and the Good Guys Shows. It’s a pro built car done by Mo & Curleys Rod Shop with the interior being done by Pro Auto Upholstery. It was a 2 year built that was done with the best products on the market. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior. interior. and driveline of the Ford. but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned. operated. and own our entire inventory. no consignments. and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So. that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. The body was pulled off the frame and striped to the metal. This is an all steel car with only the rear fenders being changed to a set of fat man fenders to hold the large 20x10 rear wheels. The body is laser straight and is covered in the Victory Red Paint that is as nice as you will see. When this car was painted they did a great job inside the trunk. doors. and under the hood with all the inner fenders and fire wall being painted. It retains the stock trim from the grill to the side stainless and door handles. The stock style door handles and trunk handle were left and the hood was latch was changed to a street rod style with the electric popper. but the hood stainless was left to keep the stock look. To complete the look it’s sitting on a set of Americans with 20x10 on the rear and 17x7 up front. Next. we will take a look at the interior in the ’40. On the inside it’s done in Tan Leather with all the metal work being painted satin. The custom door panels are accented with the factory door handles and window cranks. The Caruillo Buckets are covered in the Tan Leather as well as the custom back seat. The dash has polished insert with VDO gauges and a Pioneer Radio with a MTX Amp. The air ride controls are between the seats with the gauges being under the dash. Also. it has a tilt column with a LeCarra Banjo wheel. Finally. we will take a look at the driveline of the Ford. Under the hood it has a 383 Small block with 10:1 Compression Comp Cam. Pink rods. and MSD ignition. The fuel is fed by 2 500 CFM carbs on a polished intake. It’s dressed with a custom carb cover that matches the valve covers and radiator cap. The alternator and A/C compressor was moved lower on the engine to give it a cleaner look. The custom exhaust has the HPC coating. The trans is a 350 Turbo with a 9” Ford Rear End with 323 gear and triangulated 4 Link with QA1 Shocks. The frame under this ride is built by Fat Man with a Mustang II Front End with BellTech Drop Spindles and QA1 Shocks. The Disc Brakes on all Four Corners are by Baer and they are power. It has Rack and Pinon Steering and the Air Rid is by Shock Wave. When you look under this car everything is painted and custom detailed to match.
