Ford Mustang 1972 Description
For sale is a 1972 Mustang Sport Roof Mach 1. The car is in running order but needs some work before it would be a driver. The front suspension needs redone (can drive it but it is very loose and will not pass inspection). I believe it could use shocks all around. Mileage on the speedometer is 42. 35 but the title lists it as unknown. Doubt it is 42. 35 original but have no way to verify. The car was originally red with the white deluxe interior but was painted black and yellow at some point then back red. The paint is faded and cracking in several places. The interior is in fair condition overall. Looks like the carpet has been replaced at some point. The seats are in good condition with some wear and a small rip in the piping on the driver’s seat. The back seats are in good condition (believe they have been redone). Someone began to replace the headliner and but did not finish and it is just okay. Dashboard panels are aged with paint flaking and some of the screws that attach the dash to the instrument panel work but are not original. Speedometer. tach and fuel gauge work. The driver’s door panel handle is broken at the bottom. Dash is not dried or cracked. Have the side panels for the back seat (see pictures but had them out to check the floor pans etc. One is originally black and one was white. Both were painted at some point and the paint is flaking off. Have the original floor console. It does have cracks in the middle but is in one piece. The cracks are repairable. The automatic transmission seems to shift as it should (the transmission fill tube dipstick is missing). The 351 Engine runs fine and has an Edelbrock F351 4V manifold and carburetor. There is a Crane Cam sticker on the fan shroud but I am not sure if it was installed. The idle is a bit “racey” so it might. Based on the codes the car was sold out of LA. I purchased this at an auction last fall in Missouri. The gentlemen had passed away and his daughter was in town to help settle the estate. She purchased this car for him in Reno Nevada a few years ago and he was going to restore it. Think he started on some of the interior but did not get far. The body seems solid with very little rust (southern California and Nevada). The floor pans seem good. The trunk does have some rust (see pictures) and there is one spot on the driver’s side rear that has rust under the trunk). Took a magnet to the areas around the wheel wells and do not believe there has been any body filler used. Overall a good start to a very nice restoration project. I have no room in my shop (too many other projects at the moment) and thought someone else should have a nice summer project. I am not an expert and have tried to give a good description on the condition. I have more pictures if you would like just send me an e-. ail address and I will send them over. Can also send you a video of the car running. Buyer is responsible for pick up and/or shipping and all related costs. Please ask any questions you may have prior to bidding.
