Description 1930 Ford Model A Murray Fordor Sedan - NO RESERVE
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
This 1930 Model A was restored in the 1980's by a Northwest hobbiest with a large collection of many early Ford A's and T's. Restored to be enjoyed as a driver for touring and around town. The car received paint, new LeBaron-Bonney interior, tires and engine work as needed. After completion of the restoration, this Model A was driven only a few miles before being parked in a building on the owner's property with other cars from his collection. With the recent passing of the owner at age 94, the family is offering this Model A for sale.
It was just recommissioned by Tom Godish of the Model A Ford Works in Portland, one of the foremost Model A mechanics in business today. Tom fully rebuilt the distributor and carburetor, performed a tune up, refilled the fuel and cooling systems, dropped in a new battery and this Ford easily started for the first time in over 20 years. Runs smooth and cool. I have personally driven this car nearly 40 miles and it drives, shifts and handles well. See video.
The Murray body is solid. All steel. The older black enamel paint presents well for a driver, with a few spots of bubbling noted. Nothing big. Would benefit from a wet sanding and polish. Please see photos. Wood framing seems solid. Undercarriage is clean and rust-free. Good top insert. Good glass. All windows operate including the tip-out windshield. The interior is very nice with no rips or tears. Excellent tan mohair fabric. Nice headliner and carpets. Gauges work with exception of the speedometer/odometer. Stock 6 volt electrical system with electric windshield wiper added. Headlights, cowl lights and stock single tailight work.
Overall, this is a solid Model A you can drive as it is, or enjoy while you take it to the next level. Like all old cars that have been stored, this one will benefit from further fine-tuning by the new owner before extensive use. You will be rewarded with the enjoyment that can only come from owning and driving a Model A.
