Ford Mustang 1964 Description
First off. I am not a Mustang guy. I am a Corvair guy. If you see any errors in this auction. please let me know and I will correct them. This car was owned by the second owner. and has sat unused for the last 33 years. I found it sitting in a warehouse in North Carolina and couldn't believe that it was as unmolested as it is. The interior is originalThe engine and all drivetrain components are original. down to the nuts and bolts holding everything together. The body is all original. including top frame. Even the radiator and windshield washer fluid bag are original. Simply put. you would have to work very hard to find a Mustang convertible that is in as original shape as this one. Imagine if you will. the time and expense necessary to put a molested/modified Mustang back to factory original. Original bolts? Forget it. Matching numbers? Good luck with that. Generator and large horns? Ha!Every detail from the carburetor to the oil pan. from the front grill to the rear bumper. is ORIGINAL. except paint. top vinyl. and (ack) the fuel tank. which brings me to the next issue. Before I go on. let's talk about the second owner did for me before I picked it up. AGAINST my knowledge and approval. He had a paint job. new top. and fuel tank put in/on it. (He is 87 years old and thought he was being kind. he did the work for free thinking I would appreciate it). When I first saw the car. it was covered in bat guano. had faded powder blue paint. and a top that was brittle to the touch. I fell in love. A month later when I come back to pick it up. he surprises me his handiwork. no charge! Ugh. Sweet old man who had no idea I LOVE the patina of an old paint job and would prefer to do all my own work myself. Let's just say that the paint job is not the highest quality and the top looks like it was put on by an amateur. Now. I've told you some of the good. some of the bad. let's continue with one more bad. There is some rust in a couple of the floor pans. but as you can see from the pictures. the rest of the undercarriage is beautiful. I suspect the top leaked and two footwell areas sacrificed their life. After changing out the fluids. flushing the old fuel from the fuel lines (which should have been done when the fuel tank was replaced. but apparently was not). I poured some fuel down the carburetor and after a couple of times turning over. she started. After I confirmed that she runs with no odd sounds or issues. I shut her down. As you may have seen from the Corvair I restored and had for sale recently on eBay. I am a stickler for restoring a car properly. and I HATE working with cars that have been molested. This car has definitely NOT been molested. I would guess that it is one of very few original unrestored mustangs still around. If you are the winning bidder and you do not absolutely fall in love with the car when you come see it. you get all of your money back. no questions asked. I have never once had a single negative comment in the 17 or so years I have been a member of eBay. I am not about to have one now. If you have questions for me about this car. or see something I should post in this auction. please ask me and I will make it right. If you want or need more pictures. ask me and I will take them and email them to you. It is my hope that this car goes to someone who loves Mustangs as much as I love Corvairs. I had a typo in the first character of the VIN. The CORRECTED VIN is:5F08U215489I should clearly pay more attention when I type. Thanks everyone for the correction. On Apr-19-15 at 11:19:52 PDT. seller added the following information:Addition: As a number of people have noticed. this Mustang came from the factory with the center console but the console is not installed. I have the console and it ships with the mustang.
