Ford F-250 1965 Description
1965 Ford F250 - 78,520 Original Miles - Collector Owned - Nicest on eBayThis 1965 Ford F250is part of a 60+ car private collection in Austin, Texas.I acquired this car in October, 2012 from an enthusiast in Atlanta, GA who had spent two years, hundreds of man-hours, and thousands of dollars making this highly original truck the very best driver it could be. I'd been searching for a truck that was the perfect combination of original, beautiful, reliable and drivable and I bought this truck the day I found it. I then flew in to Atlanta, met the seller at the airport, and drove the truck straight back nearly 1,000 miles to Austin, TX. The truck performed beautifully and was a joy to drive.
I'm the fourth owner of the truck and its history is well documented. The original owner, a resident of Ontario, Oregon, purchased the truck new on January 28th, 1965 from Gentry Ford for the price of $2,573.00. The truck stayed with its original owner for almost 40 years until it was sold to its second owner, who lived in Monroe, NC, in April of 2004. It was then sold in 2010 to its third owner in Atlanta who sold the truck to me in 2012. Each step of the ownership chain is documented and the original mileage is documented on title transfers from the second owner to the third and from the third owner to me. Incredibly, the car retains its original bill of sale in the original owner's name.
Today, the truck is a perfect choice for someone who wants an appreciating classic they can drive every day. Sadly, I've only had the time to drive the truck less than 500 miles since that first road trip from Atlanta to Austin. I hope whoever buys this truck does much better than that. It's a very special truck and it deserves a very special home.
Further information is provided below.
Mechanicals:From the factory the truck was optioned with a352 2V engine, 4-speed transmission, and a Dana 4.10 rear end - all of which remain with the truck today. The original bill of sale (included with the truck) lists some of the factory options as:
352 V8Washer WipersSide Molding4 spd Trans5 Wheels - 4 TiresF250 Camper PackageLH Arm RestRH VisorCustom SeatCigarette Lighter(and a couple more I can't read - maybe you can)
The truck starts, stops, and drives superbly. The original engine was rebuilt approximately 35,000 miles ago and runs strong with excellent oil pressure and no overheating issues even in the 100+ degree Texas summers. The clutch is strong, the truck shifts precisely with no grinding or odd noises, and it brakes easily and in a straight line. There are no fluid leaks or smoking from the engine. The electrics - always an area of concern on vintage vehicles - are solid and have given me no issues. The lights, gauges, wipers, and other electrical components are all functioning as intended.
The truck was upgraded with 1971 F250 power disc brakes and power steering less than 2,000 miles ago. Both systems operate flawlessly and transform the driving experience of the truck. The conversions were done with new and remanufactured parts and no used or salvage components were used.
The truck sounds great with headers and dual stainless exhaust which appears almost new.
In addition to its standard gas tank, the truck has dual saddle tanks that are believed to have been dealer-installed as part of the "camper package" listed on the bill of sale. Less than 2,000 miles ago the tanks were removed, cleaned and painted. They're fully functional and the driver can choose any of the three fuel tanks from a switch located in the cab of the truck.
The truck is 100% rust free. Other than the slightest surface patina, you could take this truck right down to the frame and you won't find so much a spec of rust. In fact, that's what the last owner did. He pulled the motor, transmission, front end, and the body, treated the already rust-free frame with rust encapsulator, and coated everything in a fresh coat of black paint. Along the way he paid careful attention to the details both big and small and the end result is a truck that is nearly as clean underneath and under the hood as the day it left the factory.
The previous owner took the time to document the process in an online forum and, while the pictures he posted have disappeared over the years, it's still en excellent documentation of the work he put into the truck. You can view his thread here:

The truck will come delivered with dozens of receipts documenting the thousands of dollars in new parts purchased by the previous owner. The list is nearly endless and includes all of the details needed to make this truck the reliable driver it is today. New items include shock absorbers, water pump, air cleaner, valve covers, alternator, spark plugs and wires, battery, u-joints, radiator and heater hoses, belts, lifters, brake lines and numerous other parts.
Under may care, the truck has required virtually no mechanical attention. In anticipation of selling the truck I have had it fully serviced and I had the carburetor rebuilt.
Exterior:From every angle, the truck presents nicely in its stunning color combination of Caribbean Turquoise and Wimbledon White. I believe the truck was originally a solid turquoise truck and the two-tone white was added at a later time.
The cosmetic condition of the truck would best be described as "high-driver". It's not perfect, but it's very presentable and the truck gets compliments wherever it goes. There is no significant rust anywhere on the body and no dents. There is some slight bubbling beginning to appear under the paint at the very front of the hood, some chipping near the fuel filler, and some light wear on the interior bed rail. I have provided detailed photos of each of these flaws. None would qualify for anything more severe than "patina" and all could be easily addressed if the new owner wished. Overall, the paint presents nicely.
The mirrors, emblems, and misc hardware are all very nice. The original side trim is showing its age but is still complete. The glass is original and shows factory markings except for the windshield which has been replaced at some point in the last 50 years and does have some nicks here and there. There is no cracking on any of the glass.
When I bought the truck the front and rear bumpers were painted white. I had the front bumper straightened and professionally chromed and I replaced the rear bumper with a brand new bumper from LMC that includes both reverse lights and license plate lights. There are less than 200 miles on these new chrome bumpers.
Overall, the cosmetics of the truck are very nice. As both a seller and a buyer on eBay, I understand the importance of complete and accurate descriptions so I tend to overstate the negatives and understate the positives. Please look closely at the photos of this beautiful truck. More than anything, they tell the true story.
Interior:The interior of this F250 is excellent and reflective if its low mileage. The dash and interior panels are beautiful and I believe they retain their original paint. The seat has been recovered and is beautiful. The gauges are clean. The various switches and controls are outstanding and original. The rubber floor mats and headliner look almost new. The sunvisors have been custom-dyed to match the interior.
I've taken the time to provide multiple, close-up photos of the interior from almost every angle. Please examine them closely and please pay attention to the details. The interior shows every sign of being well taken care of and will exceed your expectations.
