Ford Mustang 1966 Description

The car was purchased new in Santa Ana, a as a gift for a daughter as her high school graduation present. The father hoped this car would dissuade the daughter from marrying her high school sweetheart. They eloped in their new car to Las Vegas two weeks later and remain married today. The new wife drove this car to her job at the Post Office for thirty years and upon her retiring, he car became the daily driver for her husband. When he retired and the car was no longer needed, hey sold it to a former neighbor in June 2014. The neighbor had bought the car just to resell and I bought it in from him in August 2014. It was my intent to totally restore the car. I had the car repainted in its original springtime yellow color, nstalled new carpeting and door panels, ad the carburetor rebuilt and installed electronic ignition. The next item was to detail the engine and engine bay and install a valve cover gasket (leaks about a quarter size spot in week) but at 75, have just run out of energy for this project.

I have over an inch thick file with receipts for work done on the car over the years going back to 1974. There are over 100 of them and range from a new long block to items costing a few dollars.

There is some pitting on the chrome vent windows as well some exterior chrome (door handles) – the drivers seat bead is showing on the back rest. The car starts fine and drives ok. Brakes and tires ok.
