Ford Ranchero 1965 Description

1965 Ford Ranchero. I bought this a few years ago and have used it for more or less a daily driver for the past three years. It is dead nuts reliable. I bought it just after the engine, transmission, and all the suspension had just been rebuilt. Since that time I have put about 30,000 miles on the car, only replacing front disc pads and changing the oil.The only mechanical problem is there is either a caliper, wheel cylinder or hose leaking - need to pump the pedal to stop and needs to be fixed before taking to the streets.

The car has a strong 302 with a 390 cfm holley. The transmission is a C4 and the driveshaft was also rebuilt and balanced just before I got the car. I was planning on converting this to a Falcon/Comet hybrid - often called a 'Cometchero.' The dash has already been done, and the tail lights are from a 65 Comet Wagon. The dash trim was refinished at a cost of $800 a few year ago and at that time a full compliment of Autometer gauges were fitted to the stock cluster. The car has a front disc conversion from a 69 Falcon. No power steering, but a Geo Metro power brake booster was installed I assume at the time of the disc swap. The rear end is an open 8" - not sure of the ratio but would guess to be in the 3.0 - 3.20 range. Also has 3 point seat belts, and power windows.

The prior owner must have run out of cash during the restoration because the paint is low quality driver at best. Looks presentable from 10 feet away, but it will need to be done at some point to look right. I was always planning to do the cosmetics when the Comet sheet metal got fitted. I haven't run into any rust issues, but the floor must have had some at some point as new metal was welded in. On the body I do see some small bubbling here and there, but I think it's from the horrible paint prep.

The car needs some cosmetics, but it's not a project. The tail lights need to be finish fitted, so if you want to return to Falcon lights, the work to do it will be about the same.If you do that, those wagon tail lights are very hard to find andwill bring $500 on ebay so don't throw them in the trash! The car has a new vintage looking heater/A/C underdash unit, along with a new condenser and dryer unit. The compressor, bracket and hoses still need to be sourced and fabricated. I'll include a new pint of Ford Wimbledon White paint if you want to spray the quarter panel that's seen better days from all the gas spills.

I have another project coming in so this one needs a new home. The opening bid is low for what this is, but if that's what it brings, that's what it will be. There is no reserve, so the high bidder will own it. There is a lot of junk out there that people want stupid money for, so if you want a nice '65 I don't think you can do any better than this for the price. Please know this is not a show car, it is far from perfect, and it's 51 years old! The pictures make it look better than it is.It's gets plenty of thumbs-up and endless attention, but it is just a driver and nothing more - if it was, it wouldn't have an opening bid like this. It's got good bones to make improvements as you go and you don't break the bank by buying one that's done.I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff, so please ask your questions. Normally I'm able to respond quickly.

Please ask all your questions prior to placing a bid. I have clear title in my name. Please note the vanity plate on the car is NOT included in the auction. Shipping is to be arranged and paid for by the winning bidder. The car needs to be picked up within 2 weeks of auction close. An immediate non-refundable deposit of $500 is to be placed via Paypal at the time the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days of auction close. The car sold AS IS, WHERE IS, and is WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. There are no returns so please look at the pictures carefully, read the description closely, and ask any questions you might have.

Thanks for looking and good luck!
