Ford Mustang 1992 Description

This is a 1992 North Carolina State Patrol mustang. During it's service life it was assigned to one Trooper that patrolled I-77 in the Charlotte NC area. It was sold at auction in 1995 with 79,405 miles. Since being retired it has had several civilian owners that have taken extremely good car of the car. I bought the car in 2014 with the intention to restore it back to original in service condition however other interests and obligations have changed those plans. This car is a very solid perfect candidate for restoration, or just drive it as it sits. NCHP marked SSP cars are EXTREMELY rare and this is a nice survivor that I hope gets a good home. I also have the Marti Report which confirms the SSP heritage.

Current remaining SSP options on the car include:

  • certified calibration speedometer
  • Buck tags showing DSO police
  • Blue silicone hoses
  • SSP oil cooler and hoses complete
  • original Gatorback spare tire and wheel
  • SSP trunk tire board
  • Single key lock system (all five locks work great.)
  • Ford Police interior dome light.
  • Relocated trunk release.
  • There is no sign of this car ever being equipped with a light bar or spot light.
  • There is a single hole on each side of the package tray where a set of rear deck lights were mounted.
  • There is evidence of two antenna mounted to the inside of the trunk lip. One on each side.

The paint isvery nice but not perfect. In my opinionI believe with a wet sanding and buffing it would be even better. During my restorationof the car my plan was to simply paint the roof and sides silver to achieve the correct NCHP livery colors. The quarter windows on this car are extremely nice and do not need to be replaced or refinished.
When I bought the car is was alreadylowered and it has nice suspension. The car handles like it is on rails compared to stock. The stock 8.8 rear diff has 3.73 gears with limited slip. It has very nice Mustang chrome pony wheels with excellent tires as well. The car drives and handles very well.

The engine appears to be basically stock however it has had some aesthetic improvements completed. The engine is detailed nicely and the original valve covers have been polished. The car starts, idles and runs well with no issues. The previous owner stated the car has a mild shift kit in the stock Ford AOD transmission. I have driven the car several times over the past several years and it shifts properly.
The interior is very nice, with the exception being wear on the drivers seat. The headliner and carpet look like new.The car also has a nice aftermarket stereo installed. All electrical components, gauges, lights, etc. work properly.
