Power Brakes. Vinyl Interior. Coil-Over Suspension. Front Disc Brakes SELLER REMARKS This minty green 1950 Ford coupe is one of the slickest semi-customs we've ever seen. Built four years ago. it was obviously a labor of love and retains the beautiful original lines and gives them a traditional custom makeover to create something truly special. The 1949 Fords were groundbreaking cars. and this coupe is arguably the most attractive model. The shape is delightfully modern and retro at the same time and the clean look is tough for customizers to improve. So when this one was built. they focused on making what was already there as nice as possible and then cleaned it up a bit. and the results are amazing. The hood badge was shaved. the windows were tinted. and the deck emblem was removed. but beyond that. it looks almost the way Ford designers envisioned. The gorgeous green paint is extremely well done and captures the perfect '50s pastel look that works quite well. The doors open and close with the precision that only comes from a lot of tedious hand-fitting and adjusting and the gaps are so even it's likely that this car has never been wrecked or rusty. All the trim was restored. which probably cost a fortune. and the gleaming bumpers and grille are testament to quality workmanship. The white pleated interior is definitely a product of the '50s custom movement. 21st century style. The factory split bench was upholstered in white vinyl and given traditional patterns. but it's obvious they weren't shooting for absolute authenticity. The interior's most dramatic feature is the chrome-plated dashboard. which wraps around into matching garnish moldings on the doors for a dazzling effect. Even the radio speaker grille was chromed! The factory instruments remain in place and the ammeter and temperature gauges were connected to the new engine and work properly. although the oil pressure gauge does not. A restored stock steering wheel looks so cool that there's no point in trying to reinvent it. and as a business coupe. there is no back seat. just an expansive storage area that's been upholstered to match. They kept things simple and didn't force A/C or a modern stereo into the dash. but it does include a factory under-dash heater. The trunk is enormous and nicely finished like a stock car would have been. complete with a rubber mat and no frills. A later 292 cubic inch Y-block V8 replaces the venerable flathead and it's remarkable what adding 80 or so horsepower will do for a car like this. The engine bay is beautifully done. with a white painted engine block. polished Thunderbird valve covers. and a super sanitary look overall. The firewall and inner fenders were smoothed and painted to match the bodywork and everything else was either polished or plated to glitter like jewelry. Even the brass radiator took a trip over the polishing wheel! It's backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end from an S10 pickup with 3. 42 gears inside. The rest of the undercarriage is restored like a stocker. with red oxide primer on the floors. a satin black frame and suspension. and cad plated hardware to give it a highly precise. detailed look. A custom dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers gives it that traditional '50s sound and the stance is exactly right on those beautiful wide whites with sombrero hubcaps. Fans of both the traditional custom look and traditional custom workmanship will love this car. Beautiful. well-sorted. and so beautiful that it catches you by surprise. it has quickly become one of our favorites.
