Power Brakes SELLER REMARKS When you take this 1932 Ford hi boy roadster home. be prepared to be the center of attention at stoplights. gas stations. and even at car shows filled with spectacular rods. because it is even more brilliant in person than it appears in photos. Recently completed and already a trophy-winner. this steel-bodied '32 Ford roadster has been built with tradition in mind but takes it to an entirely new level. The base is metallic candy maroon. which is stunning enough all by itself. but then this rod took a turn and added custom flames surrounding the familiar '32 Ford grille up front and extending down the sides of the body. Those hot licks are a traditional look that contrasts with the subtle. mature paint to create a juxtaposition of old and new that totally works. Finish quality is. as you might guess. off-the-charts nice and show-quality throughout. demonstrating immaculate prep on the steel body. exacting gaps. and the kind of extreme attention to detail required to win trophies at very high levels. Those details include the 1950 Pontiac taillights tail lights. a 3-piece Rootlieb hood. and trick little side-view mirrors peeking out past the windshield frame. You can forget traditional austerity inside. however. as this roadster is stuffed with a sumptuous tan leather interior that would make a Mercedes feel humble. A custom bench seat fits neatly in the cozy roadster cockpit. and every single square inch has been covered in matching tan hides. including the under dash area. door panels. and wrapping around the back. Beautifully sculpted door panels demonstrate the finest leatherworkers' craft. while remaining a somewhat subtle to contrast with the outrageous paint job. A polished Ididit tilt column. genuine Hurst 4-speed shifter with cue ball knob. and a full array of AutoMeter gauges were added to the mix. and the banjo-style steering wheel by LaCarrera ties it all together quite neatly. Speakers for the AM/FM/CD stereo system were stashed throughout the interior and color-matched to blend in. and there's a fully finished trunk compartment out back. There's plenty of power on tap thanks to a GM Performance Parts ZZ4 crate motor that has been expertly detailed to be as much a part of the show as the bodywork. Dig the trick air cleaner setup which is a vintage Oldsmobile piece that feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel atop a polished intake. The block was painted to match the body and a few well-chosen billet and chrome pieces add some sparkle. An HEI ignition lights the fires and a set of Sanderson headers feeding a custom dual exhaust system tucks up neatly underneath the body. The transmission is a Muncie that was just rebuilt and it feeds a smooth 9-inch Ford rear by Curry with 3. 70 gears on a Detroit Locker. Everything on this car has either been polished or painted to match the body. including the frame. suspension components. and even the pan under the stainless gas tank. Four wheel Wilwood disc brakes make this roadster stop like a sports car and it rides rather well on a traditional suspension with a transverse leaf up front and coil-overs in back. Further blending old and new traditions. the American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are wrapped in a big-n-little tire combination with 195/55/15s up front and giant 275/60/17s in back. Hand-crafted works of art aren't cheap. but this one is available for a fraction of its build cost.
