Ford Mustang 1989 Description

Stock 25th Year Anniversary 1989 Ford Fox Mustang GT 5. 0 Hatchback Automatic I am the original owner and only driver of this smoke-free Stock 25th Year Anniversary 1989 Cabernet Red Ford Mustang GT 5. 0 Hatchback Automatic with 133. 00 miles. I have always been a fan of car restoration culture (I even know Sam Mann. the multiple Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Winner) and I bought this car 25 years ago with restoration in the future in mind and have averaged 5~6. 00 miles per year on it. But I am not a do-it-yourself guy and the car has become. not expensive. but too time consuming for me to keep running as my daily car so I’m ready to pass it on to a serious automotive restoration specialist. This stock Mustang is a 25th Year Anniversary Mustang and is the last year they were made without airbags. It is known for its 50/50 weight distribution and torque. It has the cool wheels you can’t get anymore. It was purchased in and has stayed in the Los Angeles. California area. It has never been driven further north than San Francisco twice and east than Las Vegas three times. I have changed the oil every 5. 00 miles and kept up regular maintenance. In addition. about 5 years ago. at around 100. 00 miles. I spent $8. 00 to get it running good again (engine. electrical. steering. transmission. suspension. brakes. etc. ) and I spent $1. 50 on new tires. front brakes. a window motor. headlight switch. door lock actuators. and passenger side inner tie-rod in the last couple of years. I have all the receipts. From 1990 to 2006 the car was kept in a garage and from 2007 the car has always been covered in my driveway when not being driven. It has never been in an accident. Today. engine. transmission. brakes. steering all work as well as it did in 1989. A Restoration Expert will take the whole car apart. clean everything with a toothbrush. and re-assemble it. Here are things that need attention: - It’s time for new shocks. struts. and maybe new spark plugs. - A line has ruptured in the A/C system and needs to be replaced. - A crack has appeared in the interior plastic panel above the right rear window (see pic). These panels can be replaced easily by taking out exposed screws. - Right rear quarter panel ground effect exterior molding is cracked on the bottom from hitting a rock on the freeway (see pic). The part is available on online specialty stores. - The rebuilt power-steering pump wheezes a bit but is actually working just fine. - The paint on exterior moldings and metal body parts are showing different degrees of discoloration under the same conditions. - When. and only when. a sudden high spike in humidity and temperature variances occurs in the near-desert conditions of my locality. the “Check Engine” light goes on intermittently during that time. In the past. if it starts to stay on. a computer diagnostic has always revealed which sensor has failed. - Time to steam clean the engine. As you know. Fox-body Mustangs have entered the collectible arena and have gone up in value by about double in the last two years. Right now is the brief window of opportunity where there is an abundance of restoration parts and in combination with your restoration effort. the 1989 Fox Mustang can be restored to its original purchase price of $15. 00. The value keeps going up thereafter. So this car will be a great hobby. a great investment. and a great ride for the serious automotive restorer. As it is. put on a set of sticky tires and negotiate the twists and turns of Malibu Canyon on rails. Take the Mustang out to Old Route 66. gun it towards Vegas. and feel the Mustang enter its natural habitat of 80+mph. Feel the glory of an All-American V8 roar down the open highway. But it’s a free country so you can bolt on an incredible assortment of available after-market high-performance parts. turn it into the star of the next “Fast and Furious” movie. and leave most Porsches and BMWs looking at the back of your 25-year old Fox Mustang 5. 0 GT as it pulls away. This car is selling AS-IS. The car is available for inspection within the Van Nuys. California area.
