Ford Other 1932 Description
Up for auction is one very special historic Hot Rod. This 1932 Ford roadster was built by Jiggs and A. D Trowell. famed Devil's Bowl circle track racers from Dallas. TX. in 1951. Jiggs and A. D Trowell were heavily into all types of racing in the 1950s-60's. from circle track. to drag racing. to sports car racing. they were a lethal combo (Google them). The brothers owned Trowell and Turner Automotive in Dallas. an auto service center that is still operated by the Trowell family today. In 1951. the boys acquired a nearly new. but wrecked Oldsmobile 88. and proceeded to transplant as much of it into a mint condition 1932 Ford roadster as they could. to make the ultimate Hot Rod. The car was fitted with. and still has and early 50's Olds Rocket engine. four speed Olds Hydromatic trans. Oldsmobile rearend. steering column. steering wheel and pedals. While they were at it. they channeled the body 5" over the frame. while still retaining the original subrails and floor. They also filled the cowl vent. shaved the doors and trunk and faired the door hinges. The brothers also hand fabricated a ton of one off parts for the car. such as hand made nerf bars front and rear. front splash apron. custom gas tank and cover. custom dropped headlight bar. custom chrome plated lift off top frame. custom plexi side curtains. etc. all are still with the car. The roadster has many rare and coveted Hot Rod parts. such as an original. polished Edmunds 2x2 intake with Rochester 2G's. polished Edelbrock finned valve covers. nbsp;and a full assortment of original Stewart Warner Wings gauges. Much money was spent dunking parts into the chrome platers' tank. just some of these parts include. engine fan. pulleys. nerf bars. top frame. dashboard. custom windshield stansions. original to the car King Bee headlights. custom headlight bar. original Deuce dropped heavy axle. front wish bones. brakes. spring. tie rod. etc. etc. It was raced in the 50's at road racing events. and old 1950's photos show it at the famed Caddo Mills drag strip. Later. in the 70's. it was even shown at the Dallas Autorama. The roadster spent it's entire life in Dallas until I was lucky enough to aquire it in 2008. This car has done it all. and has come full circle. It is totally body off restored and finished with beautiful black nitrocellulose laquer paint. exactly how it was done in 1951 ! It runs and drives beautifully and is an absolute pleasure to experience ! Comes with many. many. photos from the Trowell family throughout the 1950's as well as a clear title. You could not duplicate this car for the reserve price ! Will assist in shipping at buyers expense. Feel free to call with any questions (732)330-9016A true time capsule. Enjoy. and happy bidding.
