Ford Other Pickups 1937 Description

This is a 1937 Ford Pickup that I built into what they call today - a Rat Rod. It was a lot of fun because you can do what you want to do and nobody can complain - but that could change. I'll start out by telling you what it was. Cab: I started out with a cab from a 11937 Ford pickup. We chopped it 4 1/2". channeled it 5 1/2". shaved the door handles inside and out. removed the latches. installed a new slide latch system. we cut a hole as a sun roof so that when you pull up beside another pickup you can look up at them. There are no windows in the doors - they are all welded shut. so they are smooth. I smoothed the firewall and added metal to wrap around the transmission. It has a metal frame on the floor with plywood on the floor. painted black. Bed: I started with a 1950 Chevy bedside. and the rest was all hand built - the front and rear sections. I made the floor out of deck plate. I made a look-like tool box in the back. but it also hinges backwards to reveal the gas tank and the battery. The fenders turned out really cool. because I found them at an iron shop. Hood: The hood is hand made from 3/8 cold roll stock molded to represent the hood. It's also removable by 4 bolts. The front nose is hand made from sheet metal. and the grille is hand made from a piece of stainless steel. Front Suspension. The front suspension is all Pete & Jake's with disc brakes and with hairpin mounts. It has a Vega steering box. Lights: The headlights are from Speedway Motors with LED signal and park light. The taillights are just round taillights with brake signal and park. Frame: The frame is made from 2" x 5" x 3/16" tubing. I handcrafted the frame to fit my design. It has a 4 link suspension with coil over shocks. Engine and Drive Train: This has a 350 cu in Chevy small block with RV cam and Edelbrock polished aluminum intake manifold. It has an Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor. It has a chrome oil pan. It has an HEI distributor. The headers you see are handcrafted. There are 8 single baffles that install in each tube to make it quiet as a muffler. The transmission is a 350 turbo. It has a Lokar shifter with a 27" shift lever. It also has a Lokar dip stick tube. The pickup also has a Lokar gas pedal and throttle linkage and kickdown cable. It also has a new radiator. The rear end is out of a 1980's model pickup with 6 lugs. Wheels and Tires: The rear wheels are Lorenzo 22" x 9 1/2" polished 6 lug. The rear tires are Nitto 4205 - 275/45R22 - new. Front wheels are 5 spoke old school wheels that I have had for a long time. Front tires are new Kumho P185/60R14. Interior: The dash is a custom piece of metal with a speedometer. oil pressure gauge. and water temperature gauge. In the middle of the dash are 8 toggle switches. One is for headlights. one is for park lights. one is for neon lights under the vehicle. one is for start which is also a kill switch. one is for the dome light. and the remaining 3 toggle switches are for future use. It has signal lights on the column. The fuse box is mounted on the cover of the glove box. so when you open it. you have easy access. I took a seat frame from a 1950 Chevy and cut it down several ways to make it fit in this pickup. We padded it with back and red material. and it fits very well. The door panels are of 1/8" deck plate. The pool balls are mounted on the door. and those are the handles for the slide latch. They also have locks so they can't come open. The car is not equipped with seat belts or rear view mirrors. There are so many ways you can put mirrors on this pickup and no one liked my ideas. so I figured you can add your own touch. There is a clear Kansas title for this vehicle. This is an "AS IS" Sale - no returns! Buyer handles all shipping costs. Email me with any questions or call me on my cell phone at 620-640-3830.
