Ford Thunderbird 1965 Description

This super nice old Ford has been kept in a garage for 50 years and for more than 45 of those years this beautiful car was parked inside a nice warm garage in southern California before the owner moved the car to a new garage in Tacoma Washington. This amazing car was purchased new in Los Angeles and came from the estate of an 87 year old woman who used the car to carry golf clubs and tennis rackets to the country club back in the 60's. As you can see by one of the oil change stickers the car was used to go to Palm Springs once in a while too but more than likely only to play more golf. Because this car seems almost undriven and it appears to be about 5 to 10 years old when you look at it. It's also very easy to see that this car was a second third or fourth car and was never used for daily transportation. In fact the car has 46000 original miles and has been driven less than 10000 miles since 1968! True story. That's why the car is still wearing 1960's era bias ply tires too because the car spent its entire life parked in the garage and there was no reason to change the tires. There are oil change stickers all the way up until 1996 when the car had around 44000 miles and it's almost like that was the only time she took it out of the garage in the later years was to have the oil changed.Yes this is one of those stories: A real southern California car that was only driven to church (the golf course) on Sunday by a little old lady.As you would expect the car has no rust. The floors fenders rockers and quarter panels have absolutely zero rust and if you look at the last photograph you can see that the bottom underside of the trunk floor looks like it was made yesterday. This car must have spent its entire life in an almost living room like environment too because all of the glass is crystal clear with no water spots or any other kind of defects. Truthfully I've never washed the car or driven it in the rain and it really doesn't look like it has even been wet in many years. The dashboard is in perfect condition too with no cracks the front seats appear to be almost new and of course the back seat looks like it has never been sat on ever. Front and rear ash trays also appear to have never been used. This is an electric window car that was ordered with no power seat and no air conditioning. The car has the working original am radio power door locks low fuel light sequential rear turn signals matching red seat belts and remote drivers side mirror. There is also a sticker on one of the door jambs stating the valves were done at around 43000 miles back in 1996 probably to install hardened valve seats for unleaded gas.At any rate the 46000 miles on this car are correct and this has got to be one of the nicest survivor cars you'll ever see. Yeah the way it is right now the car is almost too nice to restore and what's so amazing about this car is the way it still functions like a new car because of the fact that it hasn't been owned by 25 different people. You get in it in the morning you push the pedal to the floor one time to set the choke and when you turn the key the thing goes boom. The 300 hp engine is basically silent and runs perfectly. The automatic transmission works like the day it was made. The car also has new tie rod ends and a completely new exhaust system including the rear silencers. All new tune up parts and a new water pump have been installed along with all radiator and heater hoses. New brake booster. The power disc brakes on this car are amazing and work perfectly. I have also installed a new fuel tank new fuel tank straps a new fuel tank sending unit with low fuel sensor and all new stainless steel fuel lines from the tank to the carburetor.
