Ford Fairlane 1957 Description

Item relisted high bid did not follow thru with purchase.

Off frame restoration started in 2001 and completed in 2005. Frame sandblasted and painted front suspension and steering linkage rebuilt. New original style White sidewall tires. New stainless fuel and brake lines. Brakes overhauled. Engine rebuild by professional engine shop. Transmission overhaul new bearings and seals. Rear axle is original. Body restored with new floor panels rocker panels quarter panel sections front fenders repaired. Repainted in dual stageColonial White and Black. New or restored chrome where needed. Interior redone with "ABC Interior" in original style cloth and vinyl. Added under dash instrumentation for ammeteroil pressure and coolant temperature. Everything works as designed except: Radio and clock are original and they were not restored. Neither one operates as normal. When the transmission was overhauled the "low reverse" gear had broken teeth. New part was not available a local machine shop restored the broken teeth but the gear pattern is off. Low and reverse gear has minor gear whine. Some stainless steel has minor marks and needs minor restoration to be first class. The heater was removed and the heater control valve replaced and the heater core replaced. Since I did not use this in the winter the heater hoses were not installed. The windshield is original and shows normal wear for 58 years. The steering wheel and the inside mirror are original and show wear for 58 years also. There is less than 1000 miles since finished in 2005.The odometer reads 82204 I cannot verify this is accurate. My lackof interest and no time to drive or show it is the reason to sell. Car has been garaged since 2005 and I have not driven it in 2 years. I just had the vehicle out on the road engine transmission operated ok driveability ok also.
