Ford Ranchero 1972 Description

Remarkably clean 1972 FORD Ranchero 500. An unmolested CALIFORNIA Ranchero since new, ith original factory A/C and good miles, ot customized or goobered up but tastefully refurbished with a classy, on-intrusive mild restoration, ithout altering its original components. This 500 is an ALL-MATCHING NUMBERS to its VIN. It is a body code 97D originally sold in San Jose, A in 1972 ( DSO 72 ). Color code is marked as 9A, nd 59,812 in the unit build assembly line.
This is a very straight example that looks very sharp despite it being an older restoration ( around 2009). 150K on the chassis ( I choose to be realistic and honest about true mileage, nlike the majority of sellers and their phony stories of " low miles "40-50 year-old Rancheros, ight!) and about 29K miles on a rebuild, hich included:
ISKY cam and lifters
CLOYES timing chain
Custom-made headers and performance dual exhaust ( with GT bumper)
Edelbrock dual-plenum intake
HOLLEY 650
High-flow TRW oil pump
Three-angle valve job by Jerry Neil White machining
Crank ground, hamfered and balanced
Carrillo mains and rod bearings
Short block assembly by JNW machining
There are numerous other mods done, o include a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission with a B&M Shift kit installed, &M shift improver, ew modulator, tc. Mileage on the transmission is about the same as the engine. It shifts perfect, ith no slippage, ag or chatter, nd NO clunking going into reverse or any forward gear.
Super heavy-duty 9" Ford rear, ith what I think was 3:5o ratio( I'm sorry, t's been a while). New axle bearings, xle seals, D re-balanced driveshaft, akewood U joints, KF front and rear wheel bearings, tc. Customheaders andstainless dual exhaust, ith a nice yet quiet choppy idle.
The body of this Ranchero is SUPER STRAIGHT, ith no rust of chassis, rame, loorboards, oor panels, enders, uarters, ailgate, ood or ANYWHERE ELSE. It is razor sharp.
Professional-quality re-spray in its original yellow factory finish, ery well done. It still glows like it was just painted.
ALL body panels line up very well, oors close smoothly, he hood and tailgate are smooth and rust-free. Most of the original chrome is still there, ut I am missing a couple of bits as pictured. I misplaced the front valance reflectors ( if I find them, will include them), nd a couple of trim pieces; otherwise, he car is 99% complete and original.
The interior is very clean as pictured, ith two-tone black & bone inserts on the professionally reupholstered seat and door paneling. Excellent headliner and sun visors. MINT original dash. AUTOMETER tach nicely mounted in-dash, nd auxiliary instruments mounted on the left window pillar. 15" CRAGAR alloys with decent radial tires ( approximately 80% tread); sidewalls have a few small weathering cracks from age. Tires are cheap these days anyway, nd most folks have their own preferences, hus I am leaving them as they are.
Overall, CLEAN 72' 500, he one to own, ith the unique one-year-only shark nose, T hood, uper-rare GT rear bumper and nice, astefully-done custom interior. Reasonably priced compared to everything else on the market, llowing for a savvy buyer's personal touches and improvements, hile still a VERY CLEAN ride, ith a lot more than my asking price in upgrades alone.
I am not looking to recover what I have spent, et alone total cost. I am simply selling the Ranchero to fund finishing of my old 66' Land Rover 109 LWB restoration ( I am not in any dire need of cash. I merely prefer to convert this Ranchero into funds for my 109).
I may consider a PARTIAL trade for an interesting motorcycle, lder Land Rover or European car WITH TITLE.
This Ranchero has a clear California title status, nd has been in non-operating status for the last five years ( I have been deployed more times than I have had time to spend driving it and tinkering with it), nd it is not regularly driven. That being said, t starts right up, nd drives fine.

I am also advertising this vehicle in other venues, and as such, reserve the right to end this listing at any time, hould a serious offer or a BUY-IT-NOW opportunity present itself.

It is listed with a modest opening bid ( which nowhere reflects what I've spent on it), nd priced to sell to a serious buyer. I am not looking to make a small fortune, hus I may choose to sell it and end the listing at any time, o the first truly interested party. I do not play games or wish to waste people's time, nd expect the same in return. Feel free to EM or call me with pertinent questions at (650) 430-4660 no later than 21:00 PST please.

Original, nmolestedFord Rancheros are getting harder and harderto find, pecially in original, naltered condition and in stock configuration. They are nearly impossible to find without them being all rusted out, r having to pay a premium for a clean example.

I shall be glad to assist coordinating shipping of this 72' Ranchero anywhere nationwide or overseas, t the most economical shipping rate available. Please be aware, do not control pick up or delivery times should you purchase it; that is pending weather conditions and shipping/ trucking delivery schedules.

I will do everything I can on my end to ensure and expedite delivery at the most financially sensible rate on the market.
