Ford F-100 1974 Description
Rust free, outhwest, reat running, osmetically original, eautifully patina'd 1974 Ford F-100 Custom short bed half ton pickup truck with a similar vintage Highboy engine, anual transmission, nd divorced transfer case swapped in years ago. This is an old desert Southern Utah ranch and farm truck which was bought by a friend of mine who collects old trucks from what we believe is the estate of the original owner. His wife is asking him to thin out his collection so he asked me to sell it. I'm the Ebay go-to guy in my neighborhood. The body is rust free with original paint. It's not perfect by any means but is wonderfully patina'd and could (should?) stay in it's current condition forever. I just think it looks cool with 40 plus years of wear marks. It would be a shame to alter it cosmetically in my opinion. Two vintage Unity Mfg. Model H1 spotlights have been mounted on the roof. A period correct Bimco ranch bumper guard is mounted up front. Period correct 15x8 white spoke rims complete the look. All the glass is good and the doors open and close very solidly. Most exterior lights work. Tires are old and should be considered rollers.
The interior is equally original. It even comes with vintage KH trailer brakes, M/FM/8 Track player and FrigiKing in-dash AC unit (AC fan even still works). Upholstery is in poor condition as are door panels and dash pad. Brittle plastic is the downside to a life spent in a dry, esert climate. Dash is original with no visible cutting or butchery. Gauge plastic has been crazed (see pics). Windows roll up and down properly. Passenger door handle is broken (inside handle only) and sticks sometimes. An additional gas tank has been mounted behind the seat. Floor boards had surface rust only (zero cancer) and were coated with a protectant.
The running gear is really solid. Engine is a 2bbl 360cid V8 (with dual Cherry Bomb exhaust) mounted to a NP435 4 speed manual transmission. The divorced transfer case is a NP205. Front axle is a high-pinion (!) Dana 44 mounted on coils and rear is a Ford 9 inch differential. Definitely the Holy Grail running gear combo. Highboy crossmember was bolted in so frame is unmodified with no welding or cutting. And it also has power brakes (they work but not very well) and power steering. Engine runs great but easy-to-acess passenger side freeze plug is seeping and I can hear an exhaust leak on the same side. 4WD system works properly and battery is new.
