Ford Other 1972 Description
This Mustang started life as a simple car with: bright red, ermillion interior, 51-2V, uto, -track player, ASA hood scoops. I purchased the car from the original owner in 1974, ith about 20,000 miles on it – and used it as a daily driver until 1985. In 1985, took a job overseas and stored the car in my parents’ barn, ith the intention of returning in a couple of years to resume using the car as a daily driver. However, areer took over my life, nd I have spent the most of the past 30 years overseas. That's where the car remains till today, nd it's now available for someone to take over ownership and restore this beast to it's former beauty. Over the years, made several additions to the car – all with factory option hardware. First came a fast ratio power steering unit (3 turns lock to lock) from a Mach 1. Next, actory air conditioning. This was followed by additions of full instruments (tach plus 3 gauges), im blow steering wheel, ntermittent windshield wipers, nd power windows. Also installed were a set of factory forged aluminum wheels from a 1973 Mustang. And last, changed the front from that standard to the Mach 1 fenders/bumper/grill. Over time, he car rolled over 90,000 miles, wanted to add some ommph to the car and installed a rebuilt short-block (0.010 overbore), ith an Edelbrock Torker intake with a Holley 600 CMF 4-barrel carb (still have 2V intake and carb). The cam was a mild upgrade to stock – good idle, ut plenty of mid-range torque. The car was driven about 2,000 miles after the overhaul - just before I went overseas... Since I had planned to come back home and reuse the car, did make several purchases over the years for some important items. The bottom front driver's seat had developed the regular broken seam between the solid vinyl and the woven vinyl section. Anyone doing restoration of the 71-73 Mustang interiors know that replacement comfort-weave material is essentially not available. I found a set of front seats with solid vinyl and purchased the upholstery from the set. Also, hen I did the power window installation, did not change the door glass – which includes an eyebrow cut to clear the power motors for the power version. The issue is that on the driver's windows lacks about 1/2 inch rolling down into the door. Not an issue for years, ut to make the project perfect, have also purchased a set of glass for power windows, hich are included. I have also accumulated many other related items for planned upgrades: 1) Hedman headers (for auto transmission and power steering); 2) 4-speed transmission, ith bell housing/flywheel/brake pedal assembly; 3) AM-FM radio; 4) Power seat assembly from '72 Cougar; 5) Misc trim items .Need the storage space, o everything GOES! Will need a hauler to remove/transport.Known issues: Age; Long-term storage; Needs top; Needs battery/brakes redone/probably transmission rebuild; Door panels have regular splits and were replaced with standard panels; Window glass (included) needs to be replaced; Front driver's seat split needs replacement (included).
