Ford Fairlane 1966 Description
I'm selling my 1966Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible. It has a cleantitle in my name, currently registered and insured in my name here in California.
Thepower convertible topworks by theswitch on thedash. Thetop goes up and down but the passenger side powercylinderleaks a little from the o-ring. The power top motor wascleaned and tested and works great and sounds great. Included is a brand new - still in box -white convertible top. Included is new tension rods, lips and seals for theinstallation of the top.
The enginefeels powerful, he transmission shifts smoothly. It steers ok - but could use newtie rod endsand radius armbushings.
It has newfront and rear brakes and hardware, nd newbrake master cylinder. However, he brakebooster does have a vacuum leak - so I have temporarily plugged it. As a result, the brakes work consistently but require a little more effort that desirable. Anew brake boostercan be purchased at any auto parts store for around$120.
This car hasa lot of potential - its a rustfree survivor. The only possible rust I have seen on this car is the passenger front floor pans- but the occasional pin holes are so minor - Ithink it would be crazy to replace them.
I replaced the frontbench seat with a brand newone - notears. The rear seat needs to be re-covered - but can beused as is.
Thegages work including thegas gage.
The gas tank was professionally cleaned and flushed.
Thechrome rocker moldings are in good shape, nd included, utnot installed so the body rockers could be clearly shown.
The car has a very straight body - it has had some minor body work through theyears. The passenger side is near perfect and shouldn't require much time at all to be ready forpaint. The driver side doorrevealed various layers of bondo, nd the rear quarter area between thedriver door andrear wheel well had some minor bondo and body work. Also, he rear trunk lid - left sidehad asmall dent that I had repaired by alocal body shop. The doors and trunk open and close just the way they should. All glass is in very good shape, o cracks, nd all glassraises andlowers nicely.
The car needs acomplete set of ignition, oor and trunk locks. The ignition switch on the car works in the accessory, ff, nd ON positions only. So, here is a separate pushbutton under the dash that operates the starter. This was done by the previous owner - and actually works well. Its probably also a safety deterrant against theft.
