Ford Thunderbird 1956 Description
1956 FORD THUNDERBIRD - VERY ORIGINAL - LOW RESERVE - MUST SELL
I am selling this beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird for a dear friend of mine. He’s 83 years young, ut he says it’s time to sell her. This T-Bird was built in Dearborn, I and went to Cincinnati, hio. From there, t went to Decatur, N and was owned by an elderly lady who drove the car sparingly. The current owner is the 3rd owner of this car. He purchased it in 1999. The cool thing is that he still has the original window sticker in a frame! (see pictures). This T-Bird has had one repaint in the original Colonial White back in the 80’s by the second owner. The car has never been in an accident and has absolutely no rust or bondo anywhere. The 312 cu. in., 25 h.p. V8 runs perfectly. The Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission shifts like new. This numbers matching Bird has only 79,875 original miles on it. It has all three tops too!
Exterior – The paint, lass, hrome and trim are all in a nice original “driver quality” condition. There are no cracks or blemishes in the glass. The original bumpers are nice and straight but do have some mild surface scratches. The paint isn’t perfect, ut still presents itself very nicely. The removable hardtop was recently repainted and looks brand new. The hanging motorized hardtop carrier is not included with the sale, ut can be purchased separately. The original soft, lack convertible top is in like new condition with clear isinglass in the rear window. The (5) Kelsey Hayes wire wheels were purchased by the current owner but the (5) original steel wheels and hubcaps will be included with the sale of the car. It also has brand new Firestone radials.
Interior – The interior of the T-Bird is like brand new and in excellent condition. The seats have been professionally recovered and new foam installed as well to factory specs. All gauges work! Even the clock! All electricals work perfectly too. The original radio (see pictures) will also come with the car. The carpet is in excellent condition with no fading or wear marks. The optional 4 way power seats work perfectly! The snap in vinyl cover which covers the cock pit area has never been used!
Engine Bay &Trunk – The engine bay is very clean and original. The motor has never been removed from the car. There are no oil or transmission leaks either. The trunk is also very original, lean and solid. It has manual steering and manual drum brakes that work perfectly. No adjustments needed.
The Undercarriage - The undercarriage is very clean with no rusting of the frame or rockers. The suspension and exhaust are like new. The original undercoating is still present and has preserved the underside very nicely.
Mechanicals - As I mentioned before, his car needs nothing. It can be driven anywhere at any distances with no issues. It runs and drives out beautifully.
If you’re looking for a well preserved and well maintained 1956 T-Bird, his is it. It has been loved and pampered its whole life. This car is priced to sell and well under the NADA “average” value of $61,120.00. It will make a great turn-key classic for a new owner or a great investment purchase for a dealer or collector.
