Ford Other 1974 Description

1974 XB GT Falcon Hardtop yellow blaze
An imported Australian Ford Falcon - not a Torino, ustang etc.
If you were looking for one of these cars in Australia, irstly GOOD LUCK, here are very few around and if they are half descent they are asking a lot of money for them. There is NO WAY you will import a standard XB Falcon Hardtop for this kind of money, et alone a GT.
If you are not familiar with the XB GT and how rare they are then do some research here:XB GT Infoand find out how rare they are - only 949 XB GT Falcon Hardtops were ever produced - how many are left today is unknown.

Lots of parts - I believe enough to complete the car plus have spares.
All of this work was done about 8 years ago and the car has sat since. Personally I would take it back to bare metal and start over.
There are two directions you could take this car:- Create a Mad Max Interceptor as per the original Mad Max movie
- Restore to a factory released XB GT Hardtop.
There are some known issues with the car.
Firstly it has had the rear markers were changed from vertical to horizontal. From inside the trunk on both rear fenders you can see where it has had lower quarters replaced. On one side you can see where they cut out the marker light and cut a new one in. You can't see that on the other side so maybe that had a complete quarter replaced at some time. Maybe it was an insurance claim back in the day and Ford only had quarters with horizontal markers left and that is why they changed the other side to match? Who knows, t is 40 years old and can't talk.
Secondly the rear parcel shelf has been replaced with a flat sheet. Rust no doubt. I have a spare parcel shelf out of a sedan that I am told is the same as the coupe one. It is functional as it is and if you were creating an Interceptor it wouldn't make any difference. If you were restoring it as an XB GT you would want to replace it.
Again this issue is only relative to restoring it as an XB GT
The VIN on the tower has an incorrect character in it. This is not uncommon as they were all done by hand and well documented online with many examples. The tower is JG66 "7" S. The 5th digit is NEVER a letter so it is obviously a mistake. Both tags, he block and original handbook have JG66 "P" S which is the correct number. It was suggested that this was a "rebody" but come on, f you were going to make a rebody then why would you make one with a "mistake" that brings the vehicle under scrutiny?
Wouldn't you make it squeaky clean so there were no questions asked. Also it was purchased in the early 2000's when the GTs were not worth very much so why would anyone rebody it in the 1990's? The GTfraternitycan argue this that and the other about the car, t is what it is and there is nothing I am going to do about it. The new owner can deal with it if they choose to go that route.
