Ford Torino 1973 Description
This is a numbers matching 1973 Gran Torino Sport with a 351 Cleveland 2V with the FMX automatic transmission. factory A/C car. Marti Report says 1 of 535 with this paint and trim code. I would catagorize this car as a survivor. It has been used. driven. and maintained its entire life. I am the 4th owner; and the car has been in the same small Idaho town since new. I know the entire history of this car. and a few things I wish I didn't. I purchased the car 14 months ago and proceeded to do a restoration/refresh. Basically the car was all original and a very solid running car. It was painted (with correct Ford 5060-A light green paint). new vinyl top. some interior. carpet/headliner. I tried to use as many of the original parts as I could. All of the trim is original and in pretty good shape (missing GTS badging on drivers side). The engine is incredibly strong. I replaced seals. rebuilt the carb. new distributor with electronic ignition. new water pump. new cam/lifters. new oil pump. exhaust manifold gaskets. also went through all of the vacuum lines and replaced where necessary. I have not serviced or gone through the A/C. which does not blow cold. but all of the componants are there. My intention with the engine. nbsp;and engine bay. was to keep it as original as I found it. which was very clean for a forty plus year old car. the 3 previous owners had never done anything except maintained it as factory and I thought that was pretty spectacular. considering most would have rid themselves of the vacuum and emission stuff a long time ago. I did have dual exhaust and glass pack added from the original exhaust manifold back. which look and sound amazing. I also had the transmision serviced. and had the rear transmission bushing replaced (which tend to fail). new u-joints. and I also had the drive line re-balanced. New brakes all around. with new discs. calipers. and lines on the front. Replaced an idler arm and bushing where necessary. The car runs absolutely amazing. I would not hesitate to drive the car anywhere. It is. however. rather cold-blooded. and takes a bit to warm up. In an effort to maintain as much of the originality as possible. I didn't replace door seals. felt. etc. ; and if I were to keep it. I would probably go through all and replace. I also want to mention that although I have sorted a huge amount of items on this car. it is nonetheless. and again. a 40+ year old car. If you are expecting an absolutely perfect vehicle. that would score 10 out of 10 (trailer queen). then this is not the car you want. However. if you want an 8 out of 10 car that shows true originality. and could be driven to any show you wanted. and be VERY well received. nbsp;then this is that car. Also. I have the original AM radio. as well as. what appears to be the original spare wheel and tire. Also. the car will come with a set of four factory steel wheels. color matched. with brand new RWL radials. The hubcaps too. however. they are not original to the car. I know I have likely missed some things. Please do not hesitate to ask. I will answer all questions that I can. I suppose this goes without saying. but. please do not bid on this car. if you have no intention or can't afford to buy it. This will be a RESERVE priced car; and I will not say what the reserve is. I will tell you that I used Hagerty as a guide. and that should get you pretty close my price. GOODLUCK!
