Ford Mustang 1986 Description
This car was purchased new by my father in 1986 and has been in my possession since he died in 1999. I have been looking after this car since it was new. It has always been a sunny-day summer car. explaining the low 43. 00 miles on the odo. In the last 10 years I’ve driven it about 1000 miles each summer so it doesn’t suffer from any long-term storage problems. Amazingly. it starts up every spring on the first try and the turbo boost can still pin you to the back of your seat. It’s in excellent condition. always garaged and adult-owned. It has no accidents. no rust. no paint bubbles. no deferred maintenance and no modifications from stock. Yes. that’s how Ford ran wires in the engine compartment circa 1986! The car has benefitted recently from a professional-quality polishing and application of Opti-Coat Pro ceramic coating which serves as a durable. permanent wax. Additionally the mechanicals were extensively serviced last summer ensuring that the car performs as intended with no expense spared. The tires are recent and have plenty of life left in them. I didn’t plan to sell this car. ever. but I’ve exceeded my capacity to keep all of my family’s toys and a limited-use car has to go. It’s time for someone else to enjoy it. The only mechanical issue is the heater core. It leaks so I bypassed it. leaving the leaking core dormant and the car without a heater. This has not been an issue for me as I only drive in the summer. The car suffers from a couple of minor cosmetic age-related issues. There’s a scuff on the black trim on the front bumper. The lower body paint shrank long-ago leaving it checked in appearance but still durable as it has not changed or deteriorated in many years. One of the spats in front of the rear wheel is damaged. making it stick out slightly. Any rock chips have been carefully touched-up with Ford paint. On the interior. Ford used a fuzzy covering on the vertical dash panels that is not aging well. It feels sticky to the touch and is faded. Finally. the driver’s seat bolster is fraying from wear. This is full disclosure here. If there’s anything else wrong with the car it’s not because I know about it. This car means a lot to me and the strong connection to my late father only reinforces my attachment. I want to see the car go to a fellow enthusiast who will take care of it and add to its story. Don’t call me if you plan to replace the motor with a V8 or if you are a dealer looking to flip it. I will not sell it. Having said that. I am not unrealistic about the price. There are not many in this condition so it’s hard to value but let’s find a fair price. Included with the car is a vintage Custom Colgan bra. Covercraft Dustop padded car cover. original window sticker. maintenance records and log. owner’s manual. KONI shock adjustment knob and original sales brochure. A $500. 00 deposit is required within 48 hours of auction close via Paypal. Full payment required within 7 days via wire transfer. cashier's check or cash.
