Ford Mustang 1965 Description

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION we have for sale a good looking 1965 Mustang coupe. Some people call the very early Mustangs 1964 & 1/2. This Mustang does look like one to me it has the generator big horns and 5th digit in the VIN is F which indicates a 260 cubic inch engine. The burgundy paint has a brillant shine and the original hubcaps look just right for the car. The tan interior looks good it is not new but in extra good condition. I consider this a extra nice driver quality car by that it looks great but iss no perfect show queen that you would haul to the show in a trailer. Things work on the car even the cigarette lighter.

LOTS OF PICTURES BELOW SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THEM!

VIN 5F07F164040

MILES: 76497 and we think its correct. All we have to document is the original owners manual with oil changes posted in it ower did not put many miles on it early.

HISTORY: I cannot tell you a lot. My car restoring friend bought the car from a older man that lived in Shelbyville Indiana. The car was restored when he bought it. We did things like freshen up under the hood buff the paint to make it shine better and look fresh.

HAS THE CAR EVER BEEN WRECKED? I see no signs of it and the title is clean. The frame members look stright.

HOW IS THE UNDERSIDE? The floors look to be original to me and I see no rust holes in the sub-frames. Its not detail but I would consider it solid.

HOW IS THE PAINT? I think thepaint is nice. The body is straight to look down the sides I see no big dents or big dings. The paint looks new because we buffed the car and polished it with high end materials my pictures showed up a little white material we left. We only put polish on the car you will need to wax it with the wax you want. The wax will not make it look better it will be for protection from acid rain and fading paint. The car has been repainted with base clear coat this is a good thing. I do see a few tiny touched up chips and some tiny specs in the paint. Its a nice paint job its just not a $20000 show car paint job. I really don't have a clue on how old the paint is it just looks new now after buffing. I don't think you will have any complaints about it come look it over its nice to me.

HOW IS THE CHROME? The bumpers shine good and have no rust or peeling. We put new door handles on new tail light bezels and trunk bezels. The window stainless is nice but has a couple of very minor dings. The side window chrome shines good but has some very tiny pits. The emblems real good used condition the mirrow has tiny pits.

HOW IS THE GLASS? Side glass looks good and they roll up good. Back glass original and decent windshield clear with no milky edges it has a stone chip on the passenger side its small bout the size of a pea.

HOW IS THE INTERIOR? The tan looking color looks just right with the burgandy paint I think Ford may call it saddle. We think it may be the original seat covers they have no holes they are a littled faded. The carpet looks to have been replaced and just OK the headliner is good and could be the original. The dash pad is good the steering wheel faded with a couple of cracks the door panels good but not new. The painted trim is a little faded and has some marks. All interior parts are cheap for Mustangs but it way cool to have a 1964 1/2 Mustang with original seat covers.

DO THE LIGHTS WORK? The interior under dash lights work the headlights work the tail lights work the turn signals work the brake lights work.

DO THE GAUGES WORK? Gas gauge works speedometer works oil and temp lights work.

HEATER BLOWER WORKS! WIPERS WORK! CIGARETTE LIGHTER WORKS!

The large 64 & 1/2 horns do not work.

TIRES WHEELS AND HUBCAPS: The tires have decent tread wear left and they are mounted on the original 14 inch steel rims. The hubcaps look original to me they are not dented up bad the black paint is worn.

HOW IS THE ENGINE? I think it runs good and I think its a 260 cubic inch. The emblems are 260 and the VIN indicated 260. They look just like a 289 to me I did not try to find engine casting to varify. The first Mustangs had 260s and this is a very early Mustang. The engine runs good I hear no knocks or rattles. I will not guarantee you it will not leave a drop of oil but it is not a bad leaker that leaves big puddles.I think its a real good engine.

HOW IS THE TRANSMISSION? Its a C4 automatic that I think shifts good.

HOW IS THE STEERING? Manual steering that I think steers good.

HOW IS THE BRAKES? 4 wheel drums that I think stop the way they did in the day.

DOES THE COWL LEAK? It did not leak when we washed the car.

DOES THE RADIO WORK? Yes it works its old school AM FM cassette it is not the original.

WHERE IS THE CAR LOCATED? Here at my home/garage in Athens Tennessee 37303.
