Ford F-100 1970 Description
Classic 1970 Ford F-100 Truck Runs Well HOTROD/Restore?
Instant street cred and a great HOT ROD or Restoration project. I bought this truck as a shop truck but once I had it I thought it could be a lot more than what I was going to use it for.
Truck starts, runs, and drives. Just did $900 worth of repairs fixing the steering column/ignition(keys)/electric/new battery.
I do not want to sell this truck.
But, I live in a dense city (Washington, DC) and this truck is better suited for country and open road. The lack of power steering is notorious for trucks of this era and is present in this model so weaving in-and-out of city traffic with taxis who don't know how to drive is not going to happen. Also, I want a shorter stopping distance (7,000 lbs takes a sec to fully stop) for distracted pedestrian tourists sight-seeing.
My wife and I have discussed restoring it or turning it into a hot rod/low-rider but I really don't have the time for it right now. If you have a son or daughter this might be a good project together.
Manual transmission with a good clutch (H-stick on the floor NOT three-on-the-tree).
People turn, look, smile, and wave. I've even had people pull up next to me shouting "Is that a 1970!?". I think a lot of people have fond memories of the bench seats (if you know what I mean)...
Typical rust/discoloration for the MidAtlantic. Not sure what the previous owner (only one to my knowledge) changed about the body other than adding a bedliner and removing the front letters. Tires are a little worn-out. Body is solid.
Again, starts, runs, and drives well before stored.
Because I am not desperate to sell this might be a little higher than most peer-to-peer sales for this make/model BUT, if you know what you are doing I think you could make this project worth your while.
I think "As Is" value is around $7,500 but am listing this W/O RESERVE because I can't give it the time it needs.
If you want to see any specific parts of the truck not included in the posted photos let me know.
If you have any questions I will answer them the best I can when I can.
Thanks for looking!
