Ford Ranchero 1965 Description
For sale: 1965 Ford Ranchero, complete and running but with needs. I bought this Ranchero 10 years ago as a work truck (gardening). When I retired in 2012, I had plans to restore it, maybe resto-mod or hot rod, but time, energy and money are no longer available. For the last 4 years, it has been started monthly, driven around the block and that's about it. Equipped with the 289 V8 and automatic transmission, it runs well around town although the brakes (not power) pull to the right and will lock up if hit hard. For that reason, plus the ancient tires, I would not take it on the freeway. The engine, once warm, runs smoothly but burns oil, about 1 quart every couple of hundred miles or so. All lights, wipers, turn signals work. The interior is very decent with padded dash, spare tire and pretty good seat covers. The plastic dash pieces are complete but should be repainted. The instrumentation needs work, both fuel and temp gauges are non functioning. Speedo/odo are fine. The heater core was leaking so I bypassed it but when repaired, heat and defrost will work. The bed has numerous chips and scratches with superficial rust. Likewise, the body has been dinged on the front corners and the driver's side rear panel, below the gas cap. There is some bubbling on the bottom of that panel and the door edges as well. The chrome / stainless steel is basically in good shape and the paint is decent. In general, it presents well but will need a thorough going thru, particularly brakes and new tires. It attracts a lot of thumbs-up and has been a great truck for me but its time for a new owner to give it the attention it deserves. Questions and inspections are welcome. The truck is being sold 'as is', without warranty, and as it is being listed locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. A $500. nonrefundable deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hrs and the remainder within 7 days by cashier's check. Happy to help with shipping but it is the buyer's responsibility. Thanks
