Ford Torino 1971 Description
1971 Ford Torino 500 Special Edition List on behalf of the owner. Located near PORTLAND, OREGON. In April of 1971 this Ford Torino 500 Hardtop was produced at the Lorain, Ohio plant. It is optioned with the 250 cubic inch OHV 6 cylinder engine with 3-speed manual transmission. It features Special Edition trim including metallic "Grabber Green" paint with pinstriping, black vinyl "Halo" Sport Roof (a "floating' design that does not extend to the drip rail like other vinyl tops of the era), special rallye hubcaps, racing mirrors and a two-tone green vinyl GT interior. Since new, this car has traveled just over 41,600 miles. The current owner acquired the car several years ago and set out to return it to showroom condition, with a few upgrades. The body was repainted and striped, and a new vinyl top was installed. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed. The grille was rebuilt using NOS parts (including original stock center emblem) and looks like new today. The interior is excellent and ORIGINAL throughout, including door panels, upholstery, dash pad and headliner, the condition of which corroborate the low, original mileage. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. Mechanically, this car is excellent. The engine was checked, cleaned and re-painted. Clifford Performance Dual Exhaust Headers were added, along with new exhaust and Magnaflow Mufflers (system cost over $1000) which help to boost the horsepower to near 200 HP. It also gives this 6 cylinder engine a robust sound and exhaust note, which is surprising when the hood is lifted and the straight 6 is revealed. It truly sounds like a big V8. But, this car is capable of delivering approximately 25 mpg on the highway. (Try that with your 429 CobraJet!) Please SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING. In addition, the manual 3-speed shifter was rebuilt, the clutch was rebuilt including a resurfaced flywheel, the U-joints were replaced, as were the front shock absorbers and coil springs. The power steering and power brake units were rebuilt, and the drum brakes turned and serviced. The original factory AM radio was also rebuilt and plays like new. Since completion, this Torino has been shown at many judged shows around the Northwest, including the prestigous Forest Grove, Oregon Concours d'Elegance (one of the top concours shows on the west coast) where it received a First in Class Award in 2014. It is a consistent award-winner wherever shown. This Torino gives you the best of both worlds, for show and go! It is a great combination with the color, trim and power options, making a unique package. The only reason for selling is to make room in the garage. A reasonable reserve has been placed on the car in keeping with its condition and low mileage. Please bid accordingly. If you have been looking for a solid, special Torino, this is a good one! WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK! If the video link below is inactive, please go to: https://youtu.be/hbAtRRv34_o
