Ford Bronco 1974 Stroppe Baja Bronco
This is an authentic Stroppe Baja Bronco. I spoke with Willie Stroppe, the son of the legendary Bill Stroppe, and he believes this Bronco to have been possibly owned by the Stroppe family. Some of things that got Willie's attention, was the handmade KC light brackets, the hood scoop with hand pounded rivets, the black custom Tonneau cover that was fitted around the roll cage, the fact that it once had AC, and that it still retained its factory chrome roof rack. But the most interesting item on the Bronco, was that it has a chrome front end with the chrome tow bar, the winch bumper and winch with "cactus basher" (which I removed and I’m storing), that is original to this Stroppe Bronco. These are some of the unique pieces that helped identify this vehicle as being the family truck. And the fact that, this one, has just about every option that was offered. He stated to me that the chrome front end Broncos(the balloon chasers and the ambulances)had been accounted for with the exception of this one.
This Bronco is on the registry and has been verified as the 100th Bronco found at the time I purchased it. Only 400 were ever produced.
Now is your chance to own a piece of racing history. Enjoy it as it is, a daily driver or restore it and you’ll have a very rare, collectible Bronco valued at approximately $150.000, based on today’s market.

Odometer reading is 55,700, possibly rolled over. The body has minor rust along the body seam in a quarter panel on passenger side, slight bubbling. It appears the drivers rear quarter panel has had some body work at one time, I do not know how extensive. The driver’s front fender is original. It still has the rolled lip as all Stroppes had and the other fender has been replaced at some point. I have in my possession, the original chrome winch bumper, tow bar and winch, with the factory chrome “cactus basher”, which is included in the sale. Factory chrome front bumper with reproduction “cactus basher” with lights resides on the front end now. Approximately a 2 inch lift spring in the front with 2 inch lift blocks in the rear. I installed drop tracking arm bracket and new urethane bushings in the front end about 8,000 to 10,000 miles ago. This is a factory power break Bronco. I rebuilt the power booster and upgraded to disk brakes with new bearings, rotors and hubs. Rear axle has been completely rebuilt; new brakes, axle bearings and rebuilt posi unit. Rear driveshaft rebuilt about 8,000 miles ago. Front driveshaft was serviced at that time. The C4 transmission had just been rebuilt with a mild shift kit, weeks before I purchased it (works great). At approximately 2000 mile, I removed the power steering box and had it rebuilt by West Texas Off Road. At the same time, I replaced the power steering pump. About 4 years ago, I replaced the drag link and tie rod ends. I’m not sure of the mileage. Approximately three years ago, I installed new BFG 33 inch all-terrain tires, lots of tread left. Turning indicators work intermittently. I have a replacement steering column which should fix the problem (included in the sale). At some time in its life, somebody has installed a B & M floor shifter, which I do not like. The stock steering column which I mentioned earlier will convert everything back to stock. The frame on this vehicle is very solid, no cancerous rust and it appears to have been undercoated at one time. Yes, I know, it is not the "Stroppe colors". Apparently someone has painted it. I have scratched through the green in areas and revealed the factory Stroppe race colors.
I’m sure I’ve missed something ;) feel free to ask questions and provide contact information (phone number would be great), I will get back to you ASAP.
