How did Ford compete with the pumped up muscle cars leaving rival factories? As history will recall, racing legend Carroll Shelby was called in to take the Mustang to new heights. Alas, the Shelby GT350 was born.

For 1969/70 the new "big" small-block 351, was topped with an Autolite four-barrel providing a bit more grunt, rated at 290 horsepower and 385-lbs.ft of torque.
