Ford Meteor Convertible 1951 Description
For sale is a very rare 1951 Mercury Meteor Convertible project.A little history on the mercury meteor:The initial 1949 Meteor was introduced on June 25, 1948, at the same time the Ford Deluxe and Custom series were introduced across North America, and shared the new postwar full-sized Ford bodies, chassis, and powertrains but with unique trim. It used a Mercury grille and was powered by a 100bhp (75kW), 239 CID flathead V8 similar to that used in 1946-53 U.S. Ford passenger cars.
The mercury meteor isessentiallythe same as a ford custom convertible except that it has different trim, different grill, power top, a different steering wheel and a few more minor differences. That said they are very rare with only a few having came up for sale over the last couple of years.
The car is complete, all the parts are there. The car runs drives and stops (you can drive it arrroundthe block but it will need work before its roadworthy. Much of the chrome has been rechromed but the bumpers will need to be done (or replaced with the ford bumpers which are identical). The car is rusty and will require trunk floor pan, quarter panel work or replacement, drivers side floor. The convertible top mechanism is complete with the hydraulic cylinders and hoses (the convertible top sells for over 3500$ alone). Many extra boxes with parts come with the car.
The car comes with a clean title and registration.
