Ford Galaxie 1971 Description
Up for sale is my rare galaxie 500. It is in good condition minus the usual small nicks & scratches. For some reason I do not know, the driver side door developed about six surface rust spots about size of a quarter and a spot about same size over driver side rear trim wheel housing. U can see in pic. Other side has none. Some clear coat fade. All fenders and doors good. Interior in good shape except of course driver seat from getting in and out over years. Everything works except radio. Need new antenna. The hole is on right front fender for new one. There is unusal wear spot on passenger side carpet. It is not down to floor pan. Wife had habit of moving right foot around and helping me stop. A good detail should fix nicely. She passed a few years ago and I do not drive it much so I brought it out of storage and fixed things up to be drive worthy. I put on new brakes early spring and also master cylinder. Had new exhaust pipes and mufflers installed. It has dual exhaust. Also, had trouble getting carb to work properly, so instead of rebuild, I bought 750 dual feed from Summit with electric choke. It is working fine. It could stand a larger carb easily. Got the A/C compressor working again but just cool air come out. I am thinking it needs new receiver/drier, vacuum and recharge. It is still a R12 system but you can convert to 134a if you like. Car has power front disk brakes and power steering. New seat belts. Engine has around 65K on it. No knocks or smoke. Installed new Petroix distributor.(no points). It could stand new shocks, guess they went down from sitting to much. Still rides good. Installed new tires all 4 corners last spring. The drive train is a 429--360HP with a C-6 tranny and 9in rear 355 positract. Drive train works as it should. Pulls strong and straight. I think good wash, wax an detail would help car a lot or just get repainted. No rust on body other then described as I looked over the body. Undercarriage has surface rust. Nothing major I could see. Board cover, behind rear seat, under rear glass is showing signs of cracking from heat & sun. Headliner is good, no sag. Hagerty has it at $9,000 in average condition. It is current insured by Hagerty for $8,000 under restoration for past several months. Sold as is. LOW reserve, as it still needs some work as you drive it. Can not put any more money in it. Be glad to answer any question. Payment due in 7 days. bank certified cashier check, personal check or bank wire acceptable for balance.
