Ford F-100 1963 Description
General – I am selling a nice looking, low mileage (45,000 miles), old truck. It is a 1963 Ford F-100 in a partially restored condition. These trucks are among the most sought after trucks of their era. This truck has a clear Montana title, is currently licensed, insured, driven and the taxes are paid in Montana through Dec. 2017.This old truck came off a ranch in Central Montana and was in the same family for over 50 years.Three generations of grandfather, son and grandson owned it and drove it on the ranch, and to and from town. When I registered the truck, at my request, the Montana Department of Motor Vehicles returned to me the original title, and it will accompany the truck upon sale, as well as the current one.
This is theperfect truck many people are looking for today, one which is unmolested, and can be driven while you restore or can be driven as is.These trucks make a great place to advertise your business, PNP, club, race team, cause or whatever. It is a lot of fun and takes you back in time. You will not have to worry about getting a ticket for texting while driving this truck, because you will not have enough hands to steer and shift and still have a hand left over for sending a text or drinking a latte. What you will experience is the fun of driving as we did back in the day.
BODY - The best part about this truck is the solid body; we are very dry here in Montana and the winters are too cold to spread salt on the roads. There are no exterior rust through spots, there are two places where some floor rust was patched and a couple in the bed floor. It had surface rust where one of the owners had started sanding and never finished the job, and what some call patina. I sanded and applied a coat of primer to preserve the metal, (see picture). While sanding I found no evidence of accidents. The body is in amazingly good condition; if your goal is restoration, you are time and money ahead by finding as rust free and straight of a vehicle as you can.Ranch trucks out here are normally really hammered; this one is unbelievably straight. This truck is the Custom Cab model and all its trim and garnishare still present and accounted for and in very nice shape (see pictures). The bed floor is steel so you have no rotten wood issues; the bed shows some use but no abuse. After sanding and cleaning the bed, I applied a high-quality bed liner material.I have used it to haul firewood, rock and timbers; it has some scratches.Someone along the way someone installed helper springs so this one can do some work for you.The toolbox in one picture is not mine and will not be included. The tailgate is in remarkably nice condition and works just fine in all three positions.
INTERIOR – Very original, very complete, every knob and original feature is still present. The paint on the dash shines as it did when it was new, (see picture).I did some interior cleanup and painting. The seat I had not only recovered, but rebuilt, (see pictures). Not sure if the glass is interior or body but I’ll address it here - it is in good shape. The windshield has one cracked area; the other five pieces of glass are intact, not broken, cracked or de-laminated. The factory headliner is still present and the driver’s door still has the custom zipper storage bin, (see picture). The truck has a back in the day gun rack, which I use mostly for a fishing pole. All instruments and lights function. The heater/defroster and blower all work, so much so that I enjoy driving it in the winter. The factory AM radio is still present and works. The dash is complete, is uncut and is very pretty.
Mechanical - The engine could quite possibly be the original, at any rate I believe it to be a correct 289 CID which runs very well and has always started quickly. It does have the standard Y block rear main seal drip. The transmission is a 4 speed, with the “granny” low; it does not jump out of any gear and it shifts smoothly. The transmission, clutch and driveshaft seem well balanced and in good shape; there is some transmission input bearing noise. The differential is original or of the right era, it is geared well for highway use and the truck seems to like 65 mph. On a recent trip, I averaged 14.6 mpg. The brakes are adequate.I found four correct whitewall bias ply tires from back in the day, cleaned and painted the wheels, and I even replaced the spare tire carrier underneath and mounted a good spare there.I had the front end aligned and the shop said the front end is surprisingly tight indicating good maintenance and or parts replacement as needed. The truck has a cold weather engine heater and the windshield wipers work on both speeds.
Summary –This little truck is an excellent example of originality. It has been a long time since I have seen one this complete, original and clean.I have yet to meet the adult who did not have one, or someone in their family or a friend that had one of this body style (1961-1966).Should you decide to make a show or parade truck out of it, the work required will be fun and easy and you can drive it daily as you work. I hope you are not buying it to make a hot rod out of it as it deserves to be brought back to its original condition.
Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation - I require a nonrefundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. Well I have tried to represent the truck as honestly and accurately as I can; please read the description carefully and look closely at the pictures. Make no mistake it is not perfect and don’t worry there is still work you can do.The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee nor warrantee implied or specified. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit.I would not like to store the truck very long because of worry of liability and responsibility issues, but I will keep it in an enclosed storage compound as long as you pay the $25 monthly storage fee.Due to previous non-payment issues, I have encountered, I will cancel a bid from anyone with less than 10 feedback. If you do want to bid, have less than 10 feedback, have the funds and are serious about buying the truck, then please by all means contact me.
Well thank you for reading my ad, and good luck with your bidding, and thank you for your interest.
