Ford Mustang 1965 Description
This car is just fantastic. You could search for years and not find an unrestored black on black fastback with no rot. This is an original paint car with a couple of preservation touch ups. The floor pans, trunk and all sheet metal are original and excellent. There is bondo in one of the rear quarters from a dent improperly repaired. Not rust. It doesn't need a new quarter just needs re worked. All glass is original carlite and the chrome aside from the bumpers is very nice. This car was in a carport on blocks for 40 years because of bad brake calipers. It has been rescued. All welds and all quarters are original ford metal. The doors have no rot underneath and the interior has not been repainted or restored. The doors inside have the correct grain as they have never been painted. The carpets seats and headliner are original. The drivers seat has a split at the top seam in photo. The interior trim is also excellent and has not been cut for speakers or damaged in any way. It's awesome. I was going to put air in so the center console was correctly cut for ac and the end cap installed. I ordered the ac from classic auto air. Concours correct factory ac. This is a very early fastback. The ac unit and all components are available but not included in the sale. If you decide to put air in the car you will have to switch to a later 65 power steering pump. The car runs exactly as it should. No shimmys rattles or shakes. Stops perfectly with factory disc brakes and all new components. Engine seems strong and transmission shifts perfectly. Factory carb is included and ran perfect. I had a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel I installed just to see how it would run. It is way better so I would just leave it. Since the car was found the following has been doneNEWCalipersRotorsPadsMaster Cylinder (incorrect but works)Fuel TankLinesDual exhaustTiresShocksCarbSteering wheelHorn buttonDash bezelDash pad ford toolingGlove box doorDoor panelsEtcMy goal was to make the interior show quality and the engine compartment the same. I would not repaint this car. It is special and to have them unrestored is very uncommon. Unfortunately I have a Mercedes coupe project that is sucking the funds up. Great driving car that could be a trailer queen if you wanted to go that route. I can be reached at 813-777-7628. I have a very fair number in mind and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. They are only original once. The title is clear and was first registered in 1968. I doubt this car will last past Tuesday so if you appreciate original survivor type cars give me a shout. I cant say enough nice things about this one.
