Ford Mustang 1966 Description

This 1966 Mustang coupe is one of those cars that proves that less is often more. Gorgeous and beautifully appointed throughout, it shows you that you don't need stripes and bright colors to have a car that will stop people in their tracks when they see it. It's also quite fast, so you don't need to rely entirely on its good looks to attract attention. The color is a stunning charcoal gray, and it transforms the quite little Mustang coupe into something much more serious and intimidating. Now that you've seen the icy metallic glow and how right it looks on the crisp Mustang sheetmetal, you're probably as surprised as we are by how much you like it. It's elegant and understated, and they left all the sheetmetal alone so that it really speaks for itself. Workmanship is exceptionally good and you can tell that someone built this car for himself and took his time doing it, because the gaps are even, the paint has that look that only a well-prepped surface can deliver, and the shine means that a lot of time went into the final cut and buff. There's also plenty of chrome that sparkles against the charcoal paint, again like an upscale machine you'd find in a high-end new car dealership. They totally nailed it with this one and it might be one of the finest Mustangs we've ever seen.Inside, the remarkable combination of beauty and original features continues. The black interior works just as well as the paint on the outside, delivering a vintage-looking interior that still provides modern conveniences, and yes, that's a factory bench seat up front, another super-rare option. It's all new and quite nicely done, with smart upgrades that make it a pleasure to drive. A wood-rimmed steering wheel on a tilt column, accessory Shelby-style gauges, and a Lokar shifter suggest that it's built for combat, but there's also an under-dash A/C unit and an AM/FM/iPod stereo with Focal speakers throughout the cabin. There's a ton of sound-deadening material underneath it all, so the thing seals up like a tomb and feels rock solid, something that can't be said for many Mustangs of this vintage. The trunk is neatly upholstered with matching black carpets, again adding a luxurious upgrade that makes this Mustang stand out. That well-dressed small block is a 289 punched out to 306 cubic inches and fitted with gear like an upgraded cam, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburetor, high-flow heads, and an electronic ignition. A GT_style dress-up kit makes it look like Ford built it, and every single component was restored or replaced during the build, giving it a like-new look. It starts easily with a snarky bark from the Tri-Y headers and Flowmaster 44s, and with an AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's punchy around town but an effortless high-speed cruiser. Out back, there are 3.55 gears spinning on an Auburn limited slip and it includes both a Borgeson power steering upgrade and power front disc brakes. Beautiful chrome wheels from a late-model Mustang GT look perfect on the vintage pony and carry 215/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear Michelin radials.A gorgeous, first-class build that has resulted in a car that's more than the sum of its parts. If you're bored with Shelby clones and pretty but stock Mustangs, perhaps this one will light your fires. Call today!
