Ford Bronco 1979 Description

Up for auction is an 1979 FORD BRONCOthat Ibought in College Station Texas on 1-5- 1997. This Bronco started life as a U.S. Forestry Service Truck. The dayI bought the truck it was still wearing theForestry Service GREEN PAINT, steel wheels and hubcaps,it had 78,000 miles on the odometer. The truck was originallyequipped with a 351M V/8 motor (still in the truck), a 4 speed manual transmission and a NP205 transfer case. The body had no rust, all the trim was missing but the body was nice and straight. The truck started right up and the back window and air conditioner worked!! The springs were saggy and the steering was loose but I drove it home to San Antonio from College Station that day and the love affair began. Following is a list of services that were performed on the truck in 1997: *I had stock height front and rear springs made at Ace Spring in San Antonio Tx. * Painted the truck blue and white two-tone color * Front endalignment and brakes *Drove and enjoyed it. The year 1998 is when I decided to get serious about the Bronco so during the years of 1998-2000 the truck was hustled to and from several professional shops in San Antonio Tx. to complete the restoration process. The following is a list of things that were done to the Bronco during the two year restoration process: PAINT AND BODY: Performed by Dales Collision; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) * Disassembled the body and removed all glass and trim *Sanded and blocked the entire body dolling out any imperfections * Sanded and painted the frame and differentials *Sprayed the entire body with Sikkens paint stock Ford white andburgundy, color sanded and buffed to amirror-like finish *Linex on the entire inside of the tub all the way up to the firewall and under the bed lips * New factory Ford hood * Reassembled the body with all new trim, rubbermoldings and a new windshield whileretaining the remaining factory glass * I never had the engine compartment painted. The truck was a well running, low mileage truck when I had it painted, I told myself I would do the engine compartment when I had to rebuild the motor but never did. My biggest regret of owning this truck. SUSPENSION: Performed by Anthony's Planet Pickup; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) * 4" Superlift Suspension lift with dual front shocks and steering stabilizer * Rebuilt front and rear axlesadding 3:73 gearing * Installed custom driveshafts front and rear built by Thrash Drivelines in San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) * New wheels and tires (long gone) * Installed aBurgeson steering shaft to replace the stock "rag-type" steering shaft. ALIGNMENT AND BRAKES: Performed by Southwest Brake; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) * COMPLETE new brake system, lines, hoses, emergency, EVERYTHING * Professional alignment ( best in the business) INTERIOR: Performed by ABC Services; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business in same location under a different name) * Covered front and rear seats, roll bar, headliner * Made custom stock looking door pockets ( looks like stock but stronger) * Dyed door panels and dash pad to match interior color After all this work the Bronco was sitting pretty, I drove the truck with pride but soon realized that with the lift and bigger tires the stock motor with a 2 barrel carb justdidn't do anything for the overall package so I retroactively decided to go ahead and rebuild the drive train. The following is a list of services and the professional shops that performed them: MOTOR REBUILD: Performed by Duffin Engine Service; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) The entire build was on the stock, numbers matching motor * Completely machined and balanced * Heads flowed for usewith a 4 barrel carb * Crane "RV" Cam * Edelbrock intake manifold * Edelbrock 650cfm carb with electronic choke * Ford Motorsports parts * Bored .30 over * Built for power and RELIABILITY. INSTALLATION OF POWERTRAIN: Performed by Hendrix Automotive; Spring Branch Tx. ( Still in business) * Installed Duffin Engine Service built 351M V/8 * Installed new Jasper C6 automatic transmission ( replaced factory 4 speed manual) * Removed factory brake/clutch pedal assembly and installedfactory automatic power disc brake pedal set *Completely re-wired the truck * Installed all new hoses, belts etc. associatedwith a new drivetrain install * Installed factory automatic tiltsteering column and Grant steering wheel * Installed new custom rear drive shaft built by Thrash Drivelines; San Antonio Tx. ( Still in business) * Installed brakecontroller * Installed remote kill switch * Fabricated and installed custom bracket for my Tow-Master tow bar * More work reflected in invoices Exhaust: Performed by Meineke; San Antonio Tx, San Pedro location ( still in business) * Installed true dual 3" exhaust from stock exhaustmanifolds back ( I hate headers) with "quite" Magnaflow mufflers. Sounds tough but not rough. NOW the Bronco performed as good as it looked and it was known around San Antonio for YEARS as the best Bronco on the road. Now for a little history on the Bronco. The first thing I want everyone to know is how much this Bronco is loved, I bought the Bronco the year that my first offour children was born so my children literally grew up with this Bronco their entire lives. My wife is a school teacher byprofession, I just retired from the natural gas business and I had to travel quite a bit for work. My wife and I decided to buy a Prevost Motorhome and to homeschool ourchildren. We traveled around the country, the trusty Bronco in tow, and had a wonderful life on the road seeing and doing everything the Good Ol' USA had tooffer. This Bronco has been in every state in the United States eitherbehind our RV or under it's own power and has NEVER let us down. Now for a little family history, we are McAllen's from the South Texas McAllen Ranch Family, we owned the Bronco from 1997 to 2010. In 2010 the Bronco was not being used much because my oldest two children were attending a college prep school in San Antonio so we did not get to travel as much. In 2010 my KAPPA SIGMA fraternity brother, J. King of the King Ranch Family who saw the truck the day I bought it and witnessed the years of progress and history the truck had with my family, offered to buy the Bronco. After talking to my wife and children I agreed to sell it to him with the agreement that if he ever wanted to sell the truck that he would offer it to us first. He agreed and the deal was made. After J. King bought the truck in 2010, he drove it for one summer and basically parked the truck on the King Ranch inside a warehouse where it sat until he called me in 2013 and offered the Bronco to my oldest Son for his 16th birthday, he knew what the truck meant to us.Needless to say we werespeechless, J. King invited us to theKing Ranch to pick the Bronco up so my three Sons and I hitched up atrailer and headed for the King Ranch to get the Bronco wehaven't seen in years but we loved so much. My Sons and I arrived at King Ranch and followed my Brother to the warehouse the Bronco was being kept in, the door to thefacility was opened and there she was, the Old Girl was siting there all dusty, drippingfrom sitting so long, dead battery, bad power steering pump, dull spot in the paint on thepassenger door, but it was her, WITH A BRAND NEW (2ND) JASPER C6 AUTOMATICTRANSMISSION that myBrother had installed in 2012. It still only has a few hundred miles on it!! ( I only mention the fact that the Bronco has been owned by two prominent Texas ranchingfamilies to inflate the price of the Bronco as much as possible). So after a beer or two we loaded the Bronco on our trailer, turned in for the night andtrailered the Old Girl home the next day. First things first, we had to correct the wrongs that had invaded the Bronco so we took her to Cambridge Automotive in San Antonio Tx. and had all her leaks fixed, power steering pump replaced, new belts, hoses, tuneup, syntheticfluids, etc. to get the Bronco ready for my Son to drive. A couple of problems arose when it came to my Son driving the Bronco, first he had a learners permit that required him to drive with alicensed driver anytime he drove, welived in Texas and the air conditioner was notworking on the Bronco so if Mom or myself wanted to let him drive it would be in one of our airconditionedvehicles. Secondly, my Wife figured out that a 1979 Ford Bronco did not have airbags and "no child of hers was going to drive a vehicle without an airbag", so we bought my Son a new truck ( with airbags) and I "traded" him the new truck for the Bronco. The following is a list of services the Bronco has had since 2013: Services performed by Cambridge Automotive; San Antonio Tx.: * Newpower steering pump * Replaced rear window motor and regulator * Replaced heater core * Complete fluid/coolingflus, replaced allfluids with synthetics ( the Bronco has ALWAYS been ran on synthetic EVERYTHING since 1997) * All leaks fixed * Brake flush Services by Southwest Brake and Alignment, San Antonio Tx.: * Completefrontend alignment * Brakes gone through and serviced what wasnecessary. ( Brakes were good) Services by Honey Creek Paint and Body: * Color matched andrepainted hood and roof due to rock chips from towing the Broncobehind our motorhome Services by Discount Tire: * 5 new Kumho Pathfinder AT 285/75-16 tires on 16X8 American Racing wheels ( the sparematches but I had to turn the rimaround backwards to fit on the tire rack because of the wheel offset) * Brand new Interstate battery * Completeprofessional detail ( . ) THE GOOD: ( In myopinion) * This Bronco is a good solid dry Texas truck with a longtimeowner and a great history. * This Bronco has all the invoices for parts, services, and maintenance since 1997. * All these invoices etc. are in a notebook in chronological order. * The truck has been garaged since 1997. * The truck has a Duffin Engine Service built, matching numbers 351M V/8 that has 50,000 miles on it ( at the most). The motor runs very good. * This truck has the problems of a well taken care of 20 year old truck, it does not have the problemsassociated with a 38 year old truck ( this truck is 38 years old). * Brand new Interstate battery * The trim on the truck is still good * Fresh tune up, synthetic fluids, etc. ( tuned in Texas and runs a little sluggish at 8000' altitude) * (5) New Kumho Pathfinder LT 285/75-16 AT tires and 16X8 American Racing Wheel ( ***the spare matches, I had to turn it around backwards tomount it on the tire rack because of the offset of the wheel***) * 4WD system is in proper working order. * New Jasper C6 automatic transmission. * Removable top with RARE sliding windows in proper working order. * NICE but no longer new interior. * Just detailed ( see pictures under the lights) * Clear Texas title in hand * MUCH MORE GOOD TO LIST!!! THE BAD: ( in my opinion) * Everyone has to remember that this Bronco was restored to a very high standard in 1997 and the restoration in now 20 years old. This is a very nice, but not perfect truck, please think about this before you bid. * The truck needs new rubber moulding, weather moulding etc. * The neutral safetyswitch has been bypassed so the Bronco will start in any gear. * Horn does not work. * Seat belt warning light stays on. * Airconditioning is all there but does not blow cold. * Rear window rolls down with key from tailgate only. * Front stabilizer bar is disconnected ( I like it better) * Tilt steeringcolumn does not tilt anymore. * The factory hood locking mechanism is a pain. * Interior needs a little freshening. * Stereo is there but no speakers. * Dent on front passenger side fender right behind the curve of the front bumper. * Paint still shows very well but has adub spot in the paint on the passenger side door and part of the front passenger side fender. * I do not like the choice of outside rearviewmirrors I made. Never have. There are probably more things you can pickapart on this truck but these items are the most pressing in my mind. Well there it is, at least what I can remember and write into this auction description. Anyone who ends up with this Bronco will own a very special truck that has been loved for many years. My family and I recently moved to Colorado and I am having to rent a storagefacility to keep the Bronco indoors so I have decided to sell the Old Girl. Don't pass this one up, you will regret it. Myexperience oneBay has been amazing, I have sold many vehicles everything from a $700.00 Dodge Dart to a $250,000.00 Turbo Porsche and have never had so much as an neutral feedback and NEVER a negative one. Please check out my sellers feedback and pay close attention to the feedback on the 2006 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited Isold recently. The Bronco is being sold as-is, where-is and no warranties or guarantees arewritten or implied. On Mar-14-17 at 04:23:51 PDT, seller added the following information:

* Hello, I have been getting many questions as to why I am selling the Bronco. The main reason I am selling the Bronco is to help pay for my Sons new truck but another reason is that my family and I moved back to Colorado last year and I do not have anywhere to store the Bronco inside so I am paying $285.00 a month to keep the Bronco inside a storage facility and out of the weather. * The paint has a DULL spot on the passenger side door and front fender, not a DUB spot. * The question was asked If the truck could be driven home and my answer to that is yes. The Bronco is mechanically sound and I would drive the Bronco anywhere.
Thank you.
