Ford Mustang 1965 Description

1965 Mustang “Shelby 350 tribute”

This is essentially a new car. It has approximately 50 miles since roadworthy. Short trips around town I have not been out on the highway. I would plan to have it hauled to its new home. I've had it since 1997.

Condition as follows:

1. new headliner; new carpet; new seat covers on bucket seats (new cover for rear seat not installed); new dash pad (doesn’t fit quite right at windshield); roll bar installed (2 fire extinguishers mounted on roll bar); new Shelby wood & aluminum steering wheel; new door jam trim; new “Painless”#10202 wiring kit installed(installation manual #90501 included); new gas tank; directionals, brake lights, Hi/Lo beams, oil pressure, alternator and temperature gauges all in working order.

2. 9” rear end; C-4 Automatic by “Transmission Specialties” with manual shift body and “hole shot” torque converter (3000 rpm lock up); Modified 289 (bored 0.030), Windsor heads, Edelbrock “Torker-Plus” cam with Crane roller rockers & push rod guides, Edelbrock intake manifold, Edebrock valve covers and Intake filter; Holly 600CFM 4 bbl. carburetor (0-80457S); Mallory “Unilite” electronic distributor and MSD- 5 ignition system; electric fuel pump with pressure regulator; electric cooling fan; Export brace and Monte Carlo bar, front and rear anti-sway bars, new shock absorbers front and rear, new leaf springs, exhaust headers to 2” Shelby type side exhaust pipes with “glass-pack” type mufflers (it makes some noise); American Racer “Tork-Thrust” 15” mag rims with new Goodrich 225/50-R15 TA radial tires, Fiberglass racing apron style A (have the original front valance panel, no front bumper). I have a Ford 289 with 302 heads on which I have done partial rebuild (new main & conn. rod brgs, honed block with new rings, new timing gears & chain, new oil pump, new starter, spotted in valves.) the 289 with questionable transmission and stock torque converter go with the car.1965 Comet, Falcon and Mustang Service Manual included.

3. Original drum brakes all four wheels and single master cylinder; original tie rods, drag link, steering box, etc; No rust any where. All body panels are solid. No body filler. Trim around front and rear windows not installed because they both leak. Repair required, trim is with car. Rear valance panel does not fit perfectly at bottom of passenger side rear fender. The paint has not been buffed out, still in “orange peel”. Some “bumps, under the paint, along top seam of passenger side rear fender. I think they are weld joints not ground down. You have to look down the seam to see them but they are there. There are two holes in the hood which serve no purpose. I put a stainless bolt in each. Heater is not hooked up. Radio not there. No Pwr. steering or A/C. Interior Pillar covers @ windshield not there. Passenger side door does not close and latch correctly. I have to “play with it” to get latched. Hood does not close flush at firewall, have to push it down to match with firewall. Trunk hinge spring not there so trunk lid does not stay open by itself. Self-cancel feature on directionals does not work.
