Ford E-Series Van 1985 Description
1985 Ford Econoline E-150 Van.This is a super-clean older Econoline cargo van. Only 41,695 miles.
Factory 302 V8 with AOD (Automatic Overdrive) runs great and shifts great. I have been driving it regularly for the last year and it has been a great van. When I bought it the odometer was at just 33k miles. It doesn't use oil, doesn't overheat and has good oil pressure. No active leaks other than typical residual leaks. Previous owner did convert it to an edelbrock (1406) 4bbl 600 cfm carburetor, edlbrock performer intake and lokar AOD shift linkage. The Lokar linkage was set-up properly and it shifts crisp and predictably. It has a custom non-catalyst single exhaust. It's been getting around 14-15 mpg in mixed driving condition. If you live in an area that requires an emissions equipment inspection this van will NOT pass a stringent inspection. A/C works and has been converted to modern r-134 refrigerant. The a/c compressor is bit on the noisy side but it works. Tires are newer with 75% remaining. Brakes are solid with no noise or pulling. Front end feels solid and it drives down the road straight like a 42K mile van should. Everything except the cruise control works. Horn, wipers etc. work. All of the gauges work. This van has a dual fuel tanks and I actively use both tanks when refueling. The fuel gauge and tank selector switch work properly.
ONCE AGAIN... This van will not pass an emissions test.
This van has sat under a carport or in the garage for most of it's life and it shows. Original paint shines like new. The original owner converted it into a camper shortly after purchasing and seldom used it. I removed all the camper interior when I purchased it and was pleased to find the original interior in nearly mint condition underneath. It originally had a pair of horrid "captain's" chairs up front as well. They had to go. So, I replaced them with two decent original ford econoline seats from the same era. The original headliner is in excellent shape. The dash and instrumentation is nearly perfect. The steering wheel has virtually no wear. It has a respectfully installed Sony stereo with usb port with speakers mounted in the front doors. This van still smells like new on the inside. Keep in mind it was previously paneled so it does have many random small holes from hardware used to attach the paneling. The body is nearly perfect. It has a few small chips and light scratches as to be expected.... but overall... it looks great. The previous owner installed some exterior lights which I removed. As a result there are 2 small holes on each fender (pictured). He also had back-up lights on the mounted on the rear bumper which rubbed some of the paint off (pictured). Two small holes on each corner of the hood from a previously mounted reflector (pictured).
Overall, this van is in exceptional condition for a 30+ year old cargo van but keep in mind that it is not perfect. It does not have any problems or obvious impending problems that would be prevent it from being driven to it's new location. With that being said... This van is being sold as-is, where-is with no warranty written, expressed or implied. It is the buyer's responsibility to perform all necessary due diligence before bidding. Once again, this van will NOT pass emissons equipment test.
