Ford Roadster Convertible 1932 Description

Here is a real Ford factory metal 1932 Roadster, uilt in May as a V8 car, nd up for sale for the first time since 1969.

History

In 1969, oy Thomas bought this Deuce Roadster out of Salt Lake City. He dragged it up to Washington State, nd breathed life into it again. See the photos below of Coy and his Dad working on it when they first brought it home. Over the years, he Deuce Roadster was Coy's favorite car to hit the road with and have fun. He drove it all over the country, nd several times to the LA Roadster show. Today, t drives just as well. Turn the key, nd go out onto the next destination.

Exterior

Painted in a 1971 Oldsmobile color, t can be described as a gun metal grey, nd black fenders. Many original parts are on this car: bumpers and brackets, eadlights, oor handles, owl lights, indshield and posts redone by Girth Welding. 16" Kelsey Hayes rims with bigs and littles Michelin radials. The rears are created reverse deep dish. Wind wings, ull side curtain set. The top is solid with no rips, ut is faded from many years of driving.

The Sheet Metal

The original sheet metal is in great overall condition for its age. Excellent hood, rille and shell, umble lid, ear fenders, irewall, naltered working cowl vent, rake running boards, olid body. Dual side mounts that I removed, hich shows the wells and subsequent necessary mounting holes. There is a patch over the gas tank, nd the pan under the seat has been replaced. At one time, t had hot rod tail lights in the body rear and had rumble handles on the rear deck.

Mechanics

The original frame is in excellent shape and has not been cut to fit the slender '66 Chevy 283 motor. Yes an odd combo with a single Stromberg 97, ut it runs great and it totally reliable for highway driving. The 283 is connected to a '39 Ford transmission and a '40 Ford rear end. Juice brakes work just fine, ingle quiet exhaust, ropped heavy '32 axle, ube shocks. Stock pedal assembly, lightly modified for the juice brake set up.

Interior

Upholstered in black, t is super comfortable to drive, riginal dash board and knobs, ith rare dual gauges: Oil Chex/amp gauge, uel/temp gauge and 90 MPH speedo. The locking steering works with key, op irons redone by George Barber of Bradford Auto Supply in VT, riginal jute and cardboard on inside of firewall, orking correct wiper motor, odern gauges underneath: amps and oil pressure, ord clock mirror, 38 folk art steering wheel with wood trim.
