Ford F-100 1964 Description
1964 Ford F-100 Custom Cab pickup truck
This red and white beauty’s name is Betsy
I’m allowing a part of the family a chance to spread her wings and find a new home. Betsy, my 1964 Ford F-100 Custom Cab long bed truck, has been with me for 12 years, spending 6 years as my daily driver. After moving into a new home with a tighter parking situation, she hasn’t been getting the attention she deserves. This is your chance to be the next owner of this fine vehicle.
A few notes:
First, she’s 53 years old, so she has some bruises and blemishes, but nothing too major. Even though I don’t get out in her as often as I as I once did, I do take her into the shop once a year for a check up. This June, we changed out the master brake cylinder and flushed the lines. In addition, we replaced the gas filter, ran new fuel lines and changed out a damaged clutch return spring. The oil change and plugs are being kept up to date.
The truck was originally a three on the tree, but the previous long time owner switched it to a 3 speed on the floor with a Hurst shifter. The odometer reads 27, 862, but I’m pretty sure that’s 127,862 well taken care of miles.
While I’ve owned her, she’s had to go to a body shop after a car pulled out of a parallel parking spot into the side of her, scraping up the bedside. Luckily, this is heavy steel, so it was easily repairable. The other driver’s insurance would only pay for the damaged side to be fixed. This leaves a shiner and duller side to the truck, but keeping it clean and waxed evens things out a little bit. As you see in the photos, her roof is fading, but not rusting
There is some surface rust in areas, but nothing significant. The only heavily rusted spot is the front end of the truck bed strips (photo shown). This is pretty inexpensive fix if you wanted them replaced.
The 292 V8 engine is running great and loves to be driven. Be aware, you’ll grab a lot of attention in the truck. I can’t go down the street with out head nods and people yelling out “nice truck!”
She’s currently running smooth and has had these improvements while I’ve owned her:
• New Cragar Nomad wheels (2 years, less than 1K miles)
• New Cooper Cobra tires (2 years, less than 1K miles)
• Drum brake pad replacement
• Clutch replacement (2 years, less than 1K miles)
• Battery replacement (1.5 years old and keep it unplugged when not in use)
I have a custom fitted cover for her along with an original shop manual and some additional documentation that will accompany her.
