Ford Model A 1928 Description
Car is licensed and titled in WA state. Running and driving project. The majority of the heavy fabrication, rare parts sourcing and trouble shooting is done. Now it is down to the details. Needs new, motivated owner to finish and enjoy. This is not a finished car and not represented as one.Body: Original paint body 1928 Ford Tudor Sedan Hot Rod. Minimal modifications made to body. All original patina!!! No rust repair done. Could not bring myself to chop the top, so I built a Hi Boy Tudor. Nicest Model A doors I have seen. Cowl gas tank has been removed. Firewall bolted in (not original to body) All glass appears original, missing passenger door glass. All original wood in body and roof structure. Folding and removable mini van rear seat. Front driver seat only mocked up- (undecided if buckets or bench) Original paint/patina 1932 Ford grill shell and insert. Minor modifications to get height set correct. No hood or hood sides. Removable steel floor sections. Modified 1932 Ford style gas tank.Drivetrain:1950 Cadillac 331" V8 (used engine, unknown internals) 1950 Cadillac Hydra-matic transmission. Mechanical shift and throttle linkage (modified stock) Rare Detroit Racing Equipment 2-2bbl carb intake with DRE linkage. Uses 2-1950 Cadillac WCD 2bbl carbs. Later Cadillac water pump for Dynaflow trans (yes GM put Buick Dynaflow transmissions behind Cadillac engines, Search Hydramatic plant fire) I put a mechanical water temp gauge in 1 port. Homemade Belond style small port, long tube headers. NOTE- Hildebrand valve covers NOT included! I will put original script covers back on. 9" Ford rear, early smooth back housing.
Chassis:American Stamping 1932 Ford rails with Model A front crossmember and original 32 Ford rear crossmember. Full length boxing plates. 2x4 center frame with exhaust passages.
Suspension and Steering: Split 1939 Ford front wishbone with spring mounts removed. Original 50's Dropped and Filled heavy '32 axle (Okie Adams?) 1936 Ford rear radius rods modified for Johnny Joint rod ends. Original ends used for rear lower shock mount. Bolt on de-coupled Torque arm. Carrier mounted Panhard bar. Modified Ford F1 front shock mounts (floating headlight bar) Transverse front and rear leaf springs. Oillite bushings in spring eyes. 1948-52 Ford F1 steering box and column. 1946-48 Lincoln Twelve steering wheel (maroon) with horn ring, Quick release hub and adapter to remove wheel.
Brakes: 12" Buick Finned Aluminum front/iron rear brake drums. 1953-56 Ford F250 front backing plates, Buick rear (custom adapter/bearing retainer/spacer to small Ford housing end) backing plate. Firewall mounted Master cylinder (modifed to work as tandem, 1" bore each piston) with swing pedal with balance bar.
Wheel/Tires: 1940 Ford 16" steel wheels with 5 on 5-1/2" pattern. Painted and pinstriped. 5.25x16 front 7.00x16 Rear BF Goodrich bias ply blackwalls.
Misc:Accessory rear view mirror with clock.7 Rare curved glass 1950s Stewart Warner gauges including the highly desired 160 mph speedometer. Amp, vacuum, speedo and water temp are functioning.
