Ford F-250 1977 Description
Offered for sale is my 3 Owner 1977 Calypso Coral/Raven Black 1977 F250 highboy. This is an extremely low mileage (73,000), well cared for highboy and only 1 of 3 built in 1977 with this paint and trim combination.
In today’s world of over restored and put together rigs it is not very often a 100% original, low mileage highboy comes along. My buddy bought this truck from the original owner’s daughter a couple of years ago. He is an avid collector of highboys, Broncos and American muscle. When he saw this truck hidden away in a local storage yard it was an instant must have.
Both he and I are Engineer, and by nature a little particular when it comes to our vehicles. When he sent photos of the truck to me I knew instantly it was a must have for my collection! A year or so later he and I struck a deal and the truck made its way to sunny California.
I am also a collector of highboys, Broncos and American muscle. Every so often I have to thin the herd to make room for a new acquisition. Now is one of those times and given I currently have 4 highboys it is a highboy that must go. Fortunately for some lucky buyer out there it is not just one of my highboys I am offering up for sale but one of my nicest highboys! If you are in the market for a 100% original, low mileage, rust free 1977 Ford F250 highboy this truck is one to be considered.
On November 27th, 1976 this Calypso Coral and Raven Black highboy was sold by Kendall Ford in Eugene, Oregon to its proud new owner. From the point on the truck was lightly used by its owner until he fell ill and passed the truck on to his daughter. She did not have any use for the truck and ended up putting it in storage in Helena, Montana where my buddy found and purchased it. A quick tune-up, some new tires, a new seat cover and the truck was once again ready for service!
The interior on this rig is clean and well sorted. The carpet and seat are new and nice! The door panels, headliner, visors and dash pad are original and in super condition. As I mentioned, I have several highboys and this truck has as nice if not the nicest interior out of them all.
As for the body, paint and trim, 100% original and in great shape! There are a few thin spots and scratches in the paint as well as some light dings in the body and trim. But for a 40 year old truck it is in GREAT shape and 100% rust free (with the exception of light surface rust on the bottom of the box - no rot just light surface rust). The doors close nicely and the body lines are straight. Electrical, instrumentation and accessories are all good and in working order.
All gauges work and are in nice condition. The oil pressure gauge is erratic and does read low. I had the oil pressure checked by my mechanic and it is a steady 35-38 at idle and high 50s to low 60s off idle. All dash lights and cluster lights work fine. The highboy is equipped with a AM/FM cassette stereo wired into the mono dash speaker. No killer sound but all very functional.
Mechanically, the 400 starts up great and runs smooth. No funny noises or quirky issues. Clutch is strong and transmission and transfer case are very smooth. The truck has great sounding dual exhaust that compliments its dominating stance. There is a slight oil leak from the transfer case that shows itself when the truck is parked on an incline or at an angle. Looks to be either a loose bolt on an inspection cover or a bad gasket. I am going to snug the cover up and see if that stops the leak.
The truck drives out perfectly. None of the rattles, pops, grinds or excessive wind noise that is typical of these old rigs. Just shut the door, hit the key and enjoy the ride! I would not hesitate to drive this highboy across the Country tomorrow. It is that nice a truck.
If you are in search of that ultimate highboy for those winter adventures to Stowe, Mammoth, Vail or Jackson Hole or just want the perfect truck to take to cruise night or Saturday morning coffee this highboy is one to consider

I made an error in my description. The motor is actually a 351-4V (originally 2V but aftermarket 4V and manifold installed - original manifold and carb will be included with truck). Marti report is correct. I apologize for the listing error!
