Ford Bronco 1971 Description

Offered for auction is a 71 Bronco Sport. The Bronco was owned by the same family since 71 and has several factory options, long with a handful of upgrades. The Bronco runs very nice and sounds excellent. Although it does run and drive I would consider this to be a project Bronco. Please take a couple minutes to ready through the detailed evaluation of the Bronco.

Engine: The Bronco still offers the original equipment 302 engine. The engine does not smoke, urn or leak oil. It runs very strong and sounds great. There is a slight lifter noise for first 20 seconds after startup, hich goes away. New points and spark plugs have been installed.

Body: The Bronco does have some rust in the typical Bronco areas. The rockers are rusted along with the front floors. The rear quarter panel seam is solid. The taillight caps are also solid. The driver’s side striker post is rusted, ong with the ever so common inner fender areas. The fenders, rille and hood are all very solid. The tailgate and doors are repairable with some patch work. The Bronco has a matching vin tag on the glove box and driver side door pillar.

Frame / suspension / axles: The frame is in good condition, here is no signs of rust holes or damage of any kind. The frame and axles do have surface rust, hich will easily cleanup with some sandblasting. The rear axle is a 9 inch set with 3.50 gears and limited slip which is all very tight. The front axle is a Dana 44 also set with 3:50 gears and limited slip dif. this is also nice and tight. The Bronco has 114,000 original miles on the drive train.

Transmission / Transfer-case: The transmission is the stock 71 Bronco 3 speed manual which was rebuilt approximately 20 years ago. The transfer-case is a stock Dana 20, hich works great. The sifters move in and out off all gears smoothly. The front lockout hubs have recently been serviced and function extremely well, he manual steering column shift effortlessly into all gears. No oil leaks are present!!

Wheels / Tires: The wheels are painted wagon spokes with 31x10.50 tires. The tires are 40% tread and all hold air well. There is also a matching spare.

Steering / Brakes: The manual steering box is warn and has some movement. The rubber bushing on the front axle and suspension need to be replaced. The left front break pulls when you’re stopping. The all the drums are in good condition and the shoes have some life remaining. I would recommend doing a complete break job prior to hitting the highway.

Electrical: The following items are fully operational; headlights, arking lights front (not side), urn signals, azards, ackup lights, ash cluster lights, nterior under dash light, ipers, eater motor and cables. The following items are not operational; horn, top lights, igarette lighter and AM radio (bad speaker). The charging system works great. The alternator pushes a nice 13.8 volts at ideal. All the gauges other than the temperature are working great. The temp gauge works, he temp. sender on the engine is bad.

Interior / soft trim: The Bronco has nice set of OEM seats in the front and rear. OEM seat belts are present in the front as well. The Bronco also has a nice 6 point roll bar and along with a functional soft top. The floor of the Bronco is covered with an aftermarket molded floor mat.
