Ford F-100 1979 Description

VINTAGE 1979 FORD F-150 RANGER XLT

This is a nice old survivor grandpa truck. This ford was bought new at Titus ford in Tacoma Washington. Included is the original build sheet. It is a really clean classic pickup and it appears to be all original with exception of the chrome wheels. This truck runs and drives great. The body and interior are clean and in nice shape also. The owners manual and some of the other original documents are included. Below are all the details on this ford. I do have many more pics I can send also. Email me if your interested in doing something early on it.

MECHANICAL

This F150 has the 351 V8 with C-6 automatic transmission. This has the 2-barrel carburetor. The motor runs nice and quiet. It does not smoke or have any leaks. It does not miss. It starts up easily and runs smooth and runs cool. The fuel pump is new. There is no water in the oil, or oil in the water. All gauges work and it has great oil pressure. This truck has factory dual tanks. It is running on the front tank and I have not tested the other tanks. The mileage on the odometer says 82,877 which could be accurate judging from the condition of the truck. The lights, heater, wipers, and radio work. This truck drives nice and straight and the power steering and brakes work fine. The tires are in good shape. It does not vibrate or anything abnormal. I have not decoded the trim tag but this appears to have the 3.50 gear ratio, just from driving it. I've had many trucks like this and I can tell it doesn't have the low gears. It cruises nicely on the highway. It has dual exhaust with quiet type mufflers so it is very quiet. The transmission pan has minor fluid seepage. It does not need to be fixed but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change the filter anyways. The transmission works perfectly though. This pickup needs nothing mechanically that I can see. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change the fluids but the truck appears to have been well maintained so it really may not even need that done.

BODY

The body on the truck is not perfect but overall in very nice shape. It's clean, straight, and tight. No dents. Only a couple very small "door" type dings. The paint is in nice shape and all body panels are very straight. I have many other pics I can send also. It is a very dry truck. No rust in the cab, which is a normally a problem spot for these trucks. The cab corners, floors, cab mounts, etc all are nice. No rust in the floors, hood, frame, fenders, inner fenders, quarters, tailgate, etc. etc. The drivers door has rust in the bottom outside skin. It's hard to see in the pics. The bottom of the door does not have rust. The skin would be fairly easy to fix and paint to match but I personally would just drive it as-is. The paint is not perfect but looks nice and is a good looking driver. The doors, hood, and tailgate work properly. The truck is tight and quiet when your driving it, and it's obvious that this wasn't a work truck.

INTERIOR

The interior is in nice, original condition. The dashpad and door panels are in good shape. The usual wear, but nothing is broken or cracked. This has an aftermarket cassette deck but the dash was not cut. The carpet looks original (i think) and is in really nice shape. The gauges and whole face area of the dash is clean. The seat is comfortable and the springs aren't worn out at all. I have not removed the seat cover to see if the drivers side is worn. If you want, I can try to get a look at it. Overall, the interior is clean and in great shape. It has no pet, smoke, or any other smell.

OVERALL

This would be a nice truck to drive as-is, hotrod, pro-tour, or? It looks good now but would look sweet with some big rims on it and lowered. This is a nice looking ford bodystyle and they look good just about however they setup. Thanks and happy bidding. Sold as-is.
