Ford Model T 1926 Description
For sale in our Chicago showroom is a nicely restored 1926 Ford 2-door sedan. This Model T is in very nice roadworthy condition and has a very interesting history. By 1926 the Iconic Model T had been refined from the original crank-only basic horseless carriage of 1909 to a more practical and easier to drive vehicle for the masses. Henry Ford was a stubborn man and insisted that all Model Ts be painted black because it was inexpensive and faster to dry. This Tin Lizzy is mostly the way it left the Ford Motor Company Fabled assembly line. The original 4 cylinder comes to life with the electric starter and cruises nicely. The fine folks at Ford adopted Henry's thriftiness and actually recycled the engine crates into floor boards.
Ford made a variety of bodies for the Model T but for those living in cold climates the enclosed 2-door sedan was the car of choice. What you will notice on this classic T is the absence of any frills or luxury items. These cars came without a heater and even a speedometer but I don't think you will be breaking any speed limits with this black beauty anyway. This car starts so easily you can crank it with 1 turn but having the electric starter certainly comes in handy. Your gas gauge is actually a wood indicator stick that will go directly into the front mounted tank to get a reading.
In addition to being a cool car as it sits this car also has an interesting recent history. A few years ago the current owner was helping a farmer move his lawn tractor and stumbled upon it in the barn sitting under a heavy layer of dust. After a day of tinkering this car was back running and driving and is now ready for parades, car shows or to take the family on a little picnic. Now is your chance to own the car that helped to put America on the road.
