GMC Sierra 3500 1988 Description
I have for sale a partially restored 1988 GMC 3500 Dually. The truck has roughly 82k miles on it with a newer motor and transmission. The truck is an Scottsdale edition and has power windows and locks. The interior is completely stock minus a plow and rear suspension air bag controllers. The truck came from factory blue but was repainted red a few years ago. The paint is in good condition but does the body has some minor imperfections. The truck is definitely presentable and shows well for its year.Engine:
Motor is a crate 454 that was removed from a 1990 C1500 454 SS Chevy. The motor has roughly 11-12k miles and runs perfectly. I just replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor. I also removed the old exhaust system which rusted out. I put two brand new exhaust manifolds, new hardware and a Y pipe. However, I did not finish the rest of the exhaust. I will leave that up to the new owner, either install a stock or aftermarket, you choose. Also, I left the EGR hooked up and it only feeds air into the intake manifold to help the motor "warm" up. However, I did not install the EGR to the "A.I.R" aka the air injection system which bolts into the exhaust manifold as I wanted to delete the systementry since it is veryoutdatedand takes up space in theengine bay. As it sits, it functions fine and will pass inspection. If the new owner wants to remove the EGR pump, tubes and wires. I will give you a contact information for someone who can flash the ECU to remove the EGR setting.
Tranmission:
Transmission was rebuilt roughly 7k miles ago by Gold Seal Transmision in Upper Saddle River NJ. The transmission was built with "heavy duty" comopents. It has an aftermarket valve body, torque converter, shift kit and an oil cooler. Transmission shifts nice and firm. Also rebuilt was the front pumpkin (differential) by same.
The brakes were gone over, the rears were recently cut and new pads installed.
The truck is in good shape for the year and with a nice cleaning and wax she will shine. I recently bought this from my friend but unfortunately I need the money to pay taxes. All she needs is to finish the exhaust and a new driver.
Truck comes with the a Western Ultra-Mount plow frame, and controller. (already installed) All you need is two receivers and a plow and your back in business. 4x4 works perfectly. Truck also has rear air bags, a 7-pin trailer connection, brake controller, custom made heavy duty rear bumper.
THE BAD:-The transmission shifts into all gears fine but the needle indicator on the dash doesn't work.-The wiper control on the dash is broken, but still works t-AC needs a charge and two O-rings replaced to keep the charge-Rear View mirror needs to be reattached and the windshieldWindshield has three (1/2 dime size) chips.-Thepassenger side power lock doesn't work
Truck has some very minor issues but overfall this would make a great work truck, extra plow truck, tow vehicle or even a daily driver.
